I am also very sad to hear this place is losing. Very nice atmosphere, great drinks, and the fish and chips were the best I have ever had I think. One star knocked off because the waiter was a bit cheeky when he asked if he could keep the change… 12.5% service was already included and the prices aren’t that cheap in the first place. I like that they close the shutters when it gets late.

Ate here recently with my boyfriend who absolutely loves this place!
Granted, it’s a cute, shabby chic little hideaway which itself is charming; coupled with the fact that it always appears to be busy (I’ve been turned away once before)...but it wasn’t as fantastic as i was lead to believe.
The service was fabulous and our waitress really cared about our tastes and whether we were enjoying ourselves, so big ups to service here.
I had excellent Fish and Chips, but their take on mushy peas was disappointing. Minty and dry. Also odd was their take on bruschetta - garlic bread with some sliced cherry tomatoes and slices of prosciutto - something I would make as a late night snack at home. When i eat out I want to eat something I can’t be bothered going to the effort of preparing!
Not the cheapest place to eat either, but the ambiance, decor (which remind me of places in my home cities of Williamsburg NY and Melbourne AU) and service make me love it just a little more than I should.

The Crown & Goose has amazing food, good beers, comfortable seats, good music and friendly staff. Great place to sit around and have a chat. Can’t believe they’re closing it!

I can’t believe this pub is going to be turned into flats! This is an outrage! We went here last night after a very unsatisfactory hour or so at The Edinboro Castle. London Pride on tap, friendly bar staff and a nice mix of drinkers. Perfect.

What can we do to stop this madness!? Don’t suppose anyone has a spare £3m quid lying about to save this gem in North London?

@alexhunter - Have a quiet word with Branson on Monday morning ;)

This is my local and I love it! It’s hidden just behind Camden High Street on the corner of Arlington Road, and is easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, especially later on in the evenings when they shut the shutters. This is presumably for the benefit of the regulars, so only people in the know will realise that it’s open, rather than attracting drunk passers-by. The Goose was much better before the smoking ban kicked in - much busier with a lively, local crowd. But with only a couple of small tables outside which only just fit on the pavement, it seems the smokers have opted for somewhere else. Even still, you can guarantee a friendly welcome, a good range of drinks and guaranteed eclectic music - it’s not often you can go out for a drink and hear The Smiths, followed by Girls Aloud, followed by Underworld! And it works. Haven’t tried the (quite pricey) food yet, but it does look amazing.

Snug, low-key, and just the place if you’re looking to avoid lager louts on a lairy, sweary night out.

Have “celebrated” several colleagues leaving parties here and, whenever I’ve popped in for a quiet one or two, I’ve always ended up staying until kicking out time.

I’m very sad to report though that it has finally lost its fight against the developers, to be replaced by flats and a restaurant:

Enjoy it while you still can, Qypers.

Best pub in Camden by far, and in my view one of the best pubs in London. Depending on what time you go there it has different moods, but is always a good place to be. It's a great place for lunch and does a decent variety of good quality food. Plays a decent mix of music in the evenings (though it's normally the chat rather than music that fills it), though it can get pretty busy on a Friday and Saturday night. Also worth noting it's got a room upstairs which you can hire for virtually nothing and they can get you a late licence - handy for birthdays etc, I had my 30th here. Atmosphere is always friendly and the bar staff are (almost) always good at their jobs.

Perhaps the best thing about this place is its almost exactly the same now as it was when I moved to London 12 years ago. That doesn't mean it's falling apart its just that they have kept the same feel to the place. It nearly wasn't there though as they had to fight against plans to knock it down 3 years ago - fortunately the local community got behind them.

Go check it out.

Great little pub slightly off the beaten track (well, only very slightly!) in Camden. This place is open later than the Edinboro Castle and is a good stop on the way home. It looks like its closed as all the shutters seem to be shut at night, but it's generally very busy in side with a young crowd of revelers. It's well worth noting that a few months ago certainly the most attractive barmaid in the history of the universe worked here - I do not know if she still does. I would not recommend asking for her number after 8 pints of pride...

I first came across the Crown and Goose when I used to live in Camden on my way home from the Cinema with a friend at 1 am on a Saturday morning. To our delight that the door actually opened when we pushed it we got a huge welcome as we walked inside and ended up staying there for a nice drink.

The pub itself is quite dark with Olive green walls, a fireplace, candles and flowers, wooden tables with very friendly staff and customers.

I've been back there a few times since that late night to sample their food which is really good.

Definately one to check out.

This is another old boozer, the sort of place you can huddle away as it is very dark inside, and wooden. Candles burn on tables to give an inkling of light for you to get on and enjoy good food, good beer and good company. It's a little off the beaten track than the usual camden pubs, and its rustic style gives it a really nice edge.
