I went here the other night for a work do and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. I really liked the feel of the place and the mood-enhancing decor. I didn’t get to see a menu because we had pre-arranged food catered for us, but the things i did have - humus, pitta, olives, chicken tikka, homemade pizza ectc - were all very tasty, so if that’s anything to go by then I’d like to go back and try the proper menu.

N.B. I notice the previous two reviews are for the Sugar Reef club - this review is for the attached restaurant.

This restaurant is in the heart of tourist town, right next to Piccadilly circus. (What a sh**ty circus). The decor is very "stylish" and "trendy" and was surprisingly full for the time of day.

I really like the way the menu is structured. Any 2 courses for £12 or any 3 courses for £15. For central London that's not bad at all. And, unlike many set menus, there was quite a lot to choose from. I started with tiger prawns with a sweet chili dipping sauce and my wife had a goat's cheese salad. For the main course I had salmon on pesto mash which was really nice and my wife had a feta and pepper bake. Both were pretty good. Drinks were average for the area, £6 for a cocktail but my wife's cosmopolitan certainly wasn't the biggest I'd ever seen.

The service varied dramatically depending on which member of staff was serving you. Some were all smiles and helpful, while one pursed her lips at me every time I made a request.

This was a reasonable place for the time and price, although I don't think I'll be rushing back, given all the amazing restaurants in the area.

I would really recommend this bar for happy hour drinks and snacks- there are great deals on drinks and in particular wine which makes it a great place to meet after work with friends. The atmosphere is sophisticated without being pretentious and there is lots of downstairs seating for groups. The restuarant meals are pricey and the food average so I would hesitate at eating here but as a fun and reasonable place to meet after work for drinks I would definitely recommend it.

Some friends and I went out for a girl's night recently at Sugar Reef/Coral Bar. Its easy to get to and easy to find, being right in Picadilly Circus, and the atmosphere was fine. The music was alright for most of the night- I don't mind a little techno but not for hours on end! My biggest annoyance was that it closes earlier than a lot of clubs- at 1- but thats too late to go anywhere else without paying cover. We did end up going to Onanon after, but if you are planning a late night, its probably best to start somewhere else in the begining.
