Great for parties - though it’s got high minimum spends and needs to be booked early. John Torode himself will come along, if you want to book him too.

This is a great place for breakfast but it is popular. If there is a wait for a table go to the bar and try one of their bloody mary’s, they are raelly good ! If you really can’t wait they will offer you a table in the first - floor restaurant which is a bit posher. The ground floor is cheap.

Smith’s of Smithfield is a large restaurant/bar near the famous meat-market at Smithfield. The restaurant is comprised of a number of different ‘Floors’. For example the bottom floor is a bar and the top floor is a Gastro restaurant.

As part of a business debrief I went to the top floor with workmates. I enjoyed the food quite a bit, but based on the premise that this is the ‘best steak restaurant’ in London I felt let down when I compared the quality and taste to one of the Gaucho’s I have also been to.

The menu is quite small and most of us had a steak of one type or another, no one was disapointed, but equally no one was raving about it. The price was also very high.

Afterwards we retired downstairs to the large bar area. The cocktail and drinks menu was pretty tired and the very dim lighting couldn’t hide the very rough decor.

So overall, not quite sure what to make of this. Good food, but perhaps losing its way like the market nearby.

Smiths has something for everyone. Lovely place for brunch on the weekend or a bigger night out. The steaks are delicious at the restaurant on the 3rd floor and the views to St Pauls are lovely.

Smith's of Smithfield is a lunch bar. There is also a gastronomic restaurant on the top floor of the building. I think there is also a wine room on the 1st floor.

The only floor affordable is the ground floor ;-) though. Their lunch menu is quite good. Their sandwiches and salads are great, very different compared to what you've already tasted (they add their own ingredients and the result is nice). It's a bit more expensive but it's worth the money.
