Altstadt

This is one of two "must-see" things on the island, the other one being Lindos.

The town has been preserved as well as possible and is virtually traffic-free.

Super shopping, great cafes and even an old "kafenion" where you can watch the locals play "tavli".

Also home to some great museums.

Rhodes is a very nice little town with a lot of remains (from its ancient times). Even if not everything is authentic or pleasant (it is very touristic), the overall is very nice, you won't find that anywhere else.

The old town of rhodes looks like a town you might find in england, its surrounded by castle walls with high turrets. On the inside it has small streets littered with shops and restaurants. Little or no traffic is allowed inside so safe to walk about. would certainly recommend a visit if you are on the island or visiting via a ferry.
