Wings. Burnt Ends. Cold beer. Need I say more?
Apart from one day where the wings were cold, this place has delivered time and time again. Ignore the burger (rubbish bun) and focus on the meat and you won’t go wrong.

If you can find a nicer sandwich than the soho classic from bodeans then please send me a qype message with the details cos I’ll be very interested. The restaurant itself has a very nice diner kinda feel to it and the staff are very friendly but at the end of the day, it’s the sandwiches/burgers which make this place stand out from the crowd!

This is the worst take away I have had in a long time!! For a number of years I have been on the lookout for the best chicken wings in town, I was advised to try this place…... I am sorry to say I was completely dissapointed! The wings were under cooked, fatty and some still had feathers on!!
Never thought I would say it but save your cash and go to KFC around the corner!!

I came here for a take-out lunch after being recommened by a friend and I’m afraid I wasn’t all that impressed. There was a fair selection of food on the menu and although at first glance the prices look a little high, you do get A LOT for your money. I speant over half an hour in here just waiting to place an order and then waiting for my order to be made. They do offer a call and pik up service which I would suggest doing if you are coming here on your lunch break.
As I mentioned previously, the volume of food is generous! The chicken wings I had were HUGE. However, on the downside the chicken wasn’t cooked well enough for me (very pink) and there were still feathers on the skin which completely put me off.
Although I personally doubt I’ll come back Bodean’s certainly ticks all the boxes for my BBQ meat loving friends.

Bodeans is my a form of culinary rebellion for me. But then that is expected when you are with a vegetarian that eats fish. So when the meat cravings get too much, the quorn sausages stop hitting the spot and when I don’t want fish, I grab some mates and we all go to Bodeans to satiate a carnivorous lust burning inside each and every one of us.
I feel like I am having a sordid and dirty affair when I go to Bodeans, I can’t wait to get my hands on the ribs, and the pulled pork. I love that spicy mayo that comes with it. I usually opt for the Pig Out meal deal, but have tried a few other things too. The steaks are great, but then so are the burned ends! That is why I advise you go in a small group, then you can all share and try everything when you indulge in having a meat orgy. I have never been able to at more than a main there as the portions are mahoosive.
Go there starving and leave satisfied, reeking of barbecue - your partner will know where you’ve been and what you’ve been up to but this is one guilty pleasure I cant give up.

Brilliant place for barbecue food, especially if you go on a Tuesday night where all the combos go for only ten pounds (usually up to 15 pounds). This branch also has a special offer where you can get a rack baby back ribs, fries, coleslaw and a drink also for only 10 pounds. That’s cheap for the amount of meat you’re getting.
My preference is for the ribs since I think the pulled pork is pretty lousy. But besides these, they also serve chicken and assorted derivative dishes off these meat. Service was good, where waiters/waitresses were attentive and didn’t force the issue that some of our party hadn’t arrived yet.

Definitely the best of the Bodean’s this place is a must for meat fans in particular the pulled pork. I have however felt slightly let down by the rest of the things on my plate but the Cream Soda makes up for it. I can’t vouch for the desserts as I’m usually too stuffed to make it that far on the menu.

I bloody love Bodeans. The ribs are biblical.
Meat + Beer = WIN.

This place is great (but not recommended for vegetarians). I have tried a few different dishes - the pulled pork, burger, burnt ends (wow!) and I’ve never been disappointed. There is a more casual upstairs section, with a restaurant downstairs. For sports fan, the TVs are usually showing American games. I just wish they offered tasty milkshakes too.

Bodeans is an American style bbq 'pit’. A place particularly popular with meat loving men- the portions are very large and the ribs are verging on Flintstone sized!! Particularly the beef ones.
The tastiest items, in my opinion are the pulled pork (Juicy pork, slow cooked on the bbq till it falls apart) and 'burnt ends’ which are the juicy ends of ribs. Everything is done in an American style- large portions, drinks like 'moosehead’ beer, deserts such as apple cobbler and key lime pie.
This is a good place for a large meal, but really be prepared for a large meal- for example the 'combo’ plate includes 1/4 of a chicken, ribs, pulled pork, chips and coleslaw! Tasty but for me, too much food to return regularly!!

I’ve been to this place a couple of times and have really enjoyed it. It’s got quite a nice feel to it and the food is good. Burgers and ribs can be done really badly but in this place the food is really tasty and not too expensive.

The menu is 50’s US diner style - meat, meat and more meat. Pork, beef, lamb, baby back ribs - i’m sure you get the picture! Prices aren’t too bad considering you can get a meat filled meal for around £10-£15.

if you are a meat lover, you will love this place!
the ribs are delicious, they do beef, lamb or pork ones!
Avoid if you are vegetarian!

Well, what to say about Bodean’s? It’s fantastic. I’m not much of a casual diner, so I always head downstairs (where they have a more extensive menu). It’s always busy, the staff are good and the atmosphere is great - just people unashamedly enjoying far too much meat and beer. The decor is pretty cool as well.
Almost everything I have had of the menu on numerous visits has been perfect. Beef ribs, pork ribs, burgers, chips, salads (!).
On certain days they do “Pig out for a Tenner”, where you get ribs, pulled pork, fries, coleslaw and a beer. Probably the best offer in town. As much as I go there, I can’t get enough of this place.
There is almost nothing negative I can say about this place, but book if you can. It’s one of those places where you get a certain amount of time to eat, but it’s more than worth it.

I used to work near this restaurant and we would eat here regularly. I really enjoyed every meal I had here. They serve big portions, so go with a healthy appetite! You need to like meat, so it’s not the best place to bring a vegetarian. It’s a over 2 floors - upstairs is more American fast food joint, downstairs is more of a restaurant. It’s good value and I recommend the pulled pork or burnt ends (only served on certain days of the week though!)

I had one great meal experience with my parents here, and one bad meal experience with my sister that gave her food poisoning. The chowder is great, the ribs are great, unless you appear to look like a tourist, and then the staff take the piss. My sister and I received cold ribs, a seafood salad thing that was off, and chips that appeared to have been bought from the McDonald’s round the corner. So don’t go here if you look or sound as if you’re from anywhere else other than London. See, when it comes to people poisoning my little sister just cos they think they can get away with it, I take exception.

Impressively good BBQ. It’s not a perfect replica of a good Southern BBQ place, but it’s definitely the best in London. Their ribs and burgers are good, but I love the pulled pork sandwich. That’s where the money is. Their BBQ sauce is fantastic. And you can get some real American beer (not that it’s any good). But worth a visit.

A favourite restaurant of mine! If you haven’t been you are missing out. The best dish are their ribs. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff in this American-themed bar. The drinks could be better but you can order tap water for free too. You get a lot for what you pay for here.

Bodeans is brilliant. My favourite place to sneak off and have a long lunch from work. American barbecue food, in a diner style downstairs, or a deli style upstairs. Or take-away. Try the Pulled Pork sandwich, with their fries and lashings of their chipotle sauce. The fries have this amazing taste that is a mixture of sugar and salt and MSG or something. God it’s good. Shows American sports all day long. Ace.

meat fest kicks. u may be dizzy after leaving.it is low lit, authentic decor and food for mamoths. meat eatin ones. evrything is american size. and mostly covered in thick barbecue sauce. it aint that cheap but you wont need to eat for a week.there are jumbo prawns that are leathely grown on some gm diet of high level steroid injections and are nearöy as solid as beef, amazing. i dont think you could make a bad choice on this menu. not really a place for a date unless the person in question is a meat monster and acrrying a gut that could rival a truckie.

Have only ever gone for lunch and then had the pulled pork and chicken platter which was tasty. However unfortunately I am one who likes quantity(childhood summers in New York) and this did not live up to the hype. however for £10 in the centre of London not bad value and definitely good for lunch when you dont have much time to spare. Only thing I would say:MORE MEAT

I finally went here this weekend after hearing so much about it, and I have to say it lived up to expectations but didn’t exceed them. I have absolutely no complaints, I thought the food was good and the service was excellent (friendly without being TGI Friday’s pushy) but I wasn’t absolutely wowed liked I expected to be. Perhaps it was the plastic menus, tiny drinks and fast food atmosphere that I wasn’t quite expecting?
Food wise, to start I had pulled pork quesadillas, which were generous and came with loads of sides (a good thing, I’m addicted to guacamole). Apparently the chicken gumbo is worth the trip alone too, and the starters are definitely worth investigating.
That said, what you really come for is the mains. It’s BBQ and steak a go-go, and I had it on good authority that I should try the steak. It was cooked perfectly, served up on a skillet to keep in the heat, and came with just the right amount of chips. All in all, no complaints! They know what they’re doing with their mains, the lamb ribs also looked really good.
Price wise, it’s what you’d expect for a steak in a chain in London. The meal for three came to £90 which isn’t really bad for starters, mains and a fair few cocktails.
Making the drinks bigger would help though…serving coke out of 250ml glass bottles when you’re serving up such big portions of salty food is just mean!

Having worked in the area for awhile, I never got around to trying this place out til the Qype “meat up” and it did not disappoint!
I ordered some place of meaty ribs with a beer (?) and fries and it was fantastic! So much meat it just filled you up! The service was great, the food was fantastic and the bit of steak I tried made me wish I had tried it as well! The BBQ sauce for the ribs you added yourself so they were as saucy as you wanted to make them.
The only drawback was the dessert which was half inedible :-( bad chocolate makes deCabbit sad
What a fantastic place and I will certainly visit there again!

I hugely dislike Bodeans which seems strange because I hugely like meat!
If you’re not a fan of pork though, you’re pretty much left out in the cold so whenever I go I usually sit in the corner cradling my star of david while quietly sobbing.
There are chicken and burger dishes avaliable but they just don’t hit the mark for me. I think the chips have a flavour on them that isn’t to my taste and the dark wood in the restaurant area generally makes the place seem quite dark and dingy.

Mmmmm meaattttt….
The perfect place for the Qype meat up!
I agree wit heveryone else here really: great steaks (half price tuesday, hell yeah!), good Cosmo’s (well, the second one was. Maybe I was getting drunker and they started tasting nicer?), and a pretty good margaritas for my first taste of one, I think.
As mentioned, its a bit of a pain that they no longer take bookings - and as a big group we struggled a couple of times to get everyone a seat. But all worked out well.
The desserts looked lovely, and next time i go back I might have to try the pulled pork… if i can pull myself away from the perfectly done steak. (Tip: the side of grilled onions might seem an unnecessary expense, but they were darn good with the steak and chips).
Very good service, efficient and friendly staff. Pretty waitresses too, if like some (not mentioning any names) you choose to ogle them!

First off, I love bbq. Absolutely love it. If something may be good with bbq sauce added, I will add it. So I was hyped for Qype’s meat-up last night and had every intention of ordering the ‘pig out’ platter of a full rack of ribs and 1/2 chicken with a bottle of (admittedly bad) Coors Light for a tenner.
BUT, I went with a half price Tuesday night steak deal instead and got the 10-ounce rib-eye with chips. Requested medium, got medium. Good first step. Peppercorn sauce on the side for £2 also good but not necessary really as the meat was very tender and well seasoned. Margaritas were discounted by a couple quid during happy hour and were just okay, smaller servings than I’m used to seeing so I wouldn’t order them at full price.
I should add that I tried a rib as well and will definitely be getting ribs next time around. Juicy and came right off the bone with ease. Love the chipotle bbq sauce and hot sauce on the tables as well. They’ve managed to get some of that southern U.S. down-home feel going in both the diner-style ground floor level and the downstairs area with dark booths and wooden tables. Ex-pats should head over when nostalgia kicks in.

The venue for the first every Qype Meat Up and Bodeans did themselves proud despite a shaky start where they refused to allow us to book a table in advance because of a new ‘no booking policy’.
Even though we insisted that we were bringing at least a dozen people with us they refused to let us reserve a large table, so of course when we turned up they had to push a bunch of tables together and squeeze us all up (the one large booth was occupied by a party who had booked in advance, apparently before the ‘no booking policy’ kicked in).
But once we got the seating arrangements sorted the rest of the evening was great. Our waitress was fantastic, really chatty and helpful despite having to deal with 14 hungry carnivores, the half price steaks were absolutely spot on: cooked to perfection, really tasty and a good size, and the cocktails went down very well.
I managed to steal a spoonful of pecan pie form my adjacent Qyper’s plate and I can recommend that too!

**Update**
A brilliant night last night in here with the Qype crew. It was 1/2 price steak night so we all got stuck in! Our waitress was great (i think i secretly fancied her) and she looked after our large group very well. This Bodean’s beats Clapham and Fulham hands down. I’ll be back.

The food in here last night was awesome. Just what i needed and it was even better than i remembered. Doesn’t quite have the atmosphere of Bodean’s in Clapham, but they still had NBA on the TV and we had decent banter with the staff.
Note to self - “Pig out for a tenner” is only available before 6pm. This deal is pretty amazing and i was kinda disappointed when i didn’t see it on the menu last night.
If you’re after ribs, steak, smoked sausages and amazing burgers. This is the place for you. The best meal is probably the 1/2 chicken , pulled pork and sausage combo. This’ll set you back about £13. worth every penny.

First visit last night and I must say, I was very impressed with the service, the food and the general atmosphere. Priced at just about the right level (£15 for a Rib Eye), the only gripe I may have is that if you are eating downstairs, then parties of 6 or more MAY have trouble ordering certain dishes on the menu, but that said, all 14 of us were fed and watered (sic) with calm efficiency.

Not content with plying us with booze and meat, those lovely Qype Captains also gave me my own little Qype Ninja to adopt this evening which kept me very busy while I was waiting for my food. Here’s what he has to say about his first trip to Bodeans…
“I like Bodeans very much. It’s much nicer than Qype HQ. There is more beer and pretty waitresses. I tried to drink as much as I could when people weren’t looking, but I didn’t feel like beer. Instead I decided Margeritas were the best option - especially as they were only £3.95! They were yummy but made me very thirsty… so I had more… sneaky.
They made a bit of a pigs ear out of the seating, but I hear rumours that they don’t take bookings anymore. If you’re in a big group this is a pain, but it’s not so much of a problem for a little ninja like me.
Tuesdays are half price steak day at Bodeans which means it’s about £7.50 for steak and chips. I like my steak rare and it was perfect. I also stole some of Andrews pulled pork which was very yummy too but I think if I can back I’d choose the steak. It would have got more expensive quickly with a lot of sides though.
The cheesecake was fantastic and I really could have eaten another piece. But then everyone decided that they wanted to take photos of me so I had to go and play at being the peforming ninja. Again. Hopefully I’ll get to go back very soon. I like it here. Lots.”
*
So there you go. His name is Eric Ninja by the way.
Great night.

Bodean's BBQ serves a variety of popular American style dishes. They encourage visits from children (complete with a private kids room) and can cater for private parties upon request.
