We went for the Buffet deal and my wife chose the Dim Sum. My wife couldn’t eat some of the Dim Sum that she had chosen as she didn’t like some of the herbs in the meat balls. One of the managers came to our table and rudely leaned over me and lifted up the steamers to check that my wife had finished and then said that we couldn’t have any more food until she had finished it all.

She then repeatedly came to our table and checked the steamers with a stern face. When our bill came we were given a surcharge as she hadn’t finished the dim sung. This is fair enough, there is enough waste in the world after all. What I object to is that we were treated like naughty children and were only informed of the surcharge upon presentation of the bill, which I think is a bit dodgy.

People are entitled to leave food that they haven’t enjoyed.

On the plus side the buffet dishes were good value and the rest of the staff were pleasant enough.

Shanghai Nights Express! They have the best dim sum and chinese oriental food in Bristol I can say. I have been ordering their takeaway food since last year when i settled down to study. As far as i have experienced, deliveries arrived earlier than the given estimated time.Their punctual delivery with the superb food really do always cure my starving stomach with satisfaction. What’s more important to me is the price. As a self supporting student, every penny really counts. Their prices are reasonable and affordable. What’s more is that for a takeaway price you get a 5-star restaurant quality food. There are different special promotion on takeaway every month and that’s the most interesting part. Last month, my flatmates and I got a free bottle of Chenin Blanc white wine for spending over £20. All that i can conclude is that they have the best freshly cooked take away food in Bristol! We’re going to eat in at Shanghai Nights Restaurant as a treat after our final exam paper. Here we come Shanghai Nights! =)

I lived in Bristol for the last 10 years and i have been ordering food from this restaurant for the last 1 year. It’s really unfortunate to hear such an incident from jeb above. So far, although I have experienced some late deliveries (due to the restaurant being too busy -so they tell me..which must be a good sign!), the food always arrived hot and fresh. I can say I’m a pretty loyal customer to Shanghai Nights and the deliveries are different from other take-aways. They serve restaurant quality food. Of course I wouldn’t say they have never made any mistake in the course of 1 year but they are really efficient. They came back right away with the correct food, which I honestly wouldn’t mind the short delay for excellent food! Overall, I would like to say that the overall food is good and the services are very much better than most of the Chinese restaurants in Bristol.I have recently tried their newly introduced dim sums and I have to say the Dim Sums delivery is a very good idea and it is excellent and delicious! They’re the only restaurant in Bristol that delivers dim sums as far as I’m concerned! Keep it up!

Ordered food from them twice, both times they got the order wrong. First they missed the peanut dip that went with the chicken kebabs. It wasn't a major problem so we did nothing. Second time we ordered the mongolian crispy lamb which is basically the same as peking duck but with lamb instead. On this occasion they only delivered the lamb and the pancake forgetting the cucumber, spring onions and hoi sin sauce. We called immediately, (the driver could only just have left our street) and the person on the end of the phone said it would be with us in 15-20 minutes. Disappointing that by this time the lamb would be cold but were prepared to accept it (even though we live less than a 5 minute walk from the outfit). 20 minues came and went - still no delivery. So we called again. This time we were told that we were never going to get the food in 20 minutes as they had to wait for the driver to get back to check the delivery (as if we would phone up and lie about it) a further 20 minutes on the phone to them and the result was that they werent going to bring any of the missing order and didnt care about our ruined meal or future busines.
Conclusion - dont order food from here unless you want to be disappointed and then treated like a liar and someone whose business doesnt matter. We wont use them again and neither will we ever go their associated restaurant. RUBBISH!
