The bagettes don't have quite the gut busting proportions they used to have (see comments below) but Stiles is still the best value bakery on Strutton Ground - or anywhere nearby for that matter. You can get a reasonable size, properly filled sandwich with a good variety of breads and fillings. The desserts are absolute delicious and everything is very reasonably priced. Very reasonably priced.
Defintely the best lunch spot in the area, just make sure you've decided what you want before you get in the queue because it moves fast and they take no prisioners!
A great place for a takeaway lunch. Large slection of baguettes or 'sticks' as they are called and even larger selection of cakes, pies and sausage rolls.
Ps don't worry about the queue it's fast moving.

How do they managed to sell baguettes at such a good price? Decent fillings, always fresh, and a great price.

As a local resident who once worked in the area (Broadway, St James's Park), Stiles has been around for over a decade and continues to provide good value baguette sandwiches, breads and cakes in great variety. They have not changed. Hooray! A typical filled baguette sandwich can be had for less than £2 and it is of a generous size with plenty of fillings. Okay, the fillings are not that exciting but they are not bad either e.g. tuna and sweetcorn, ham and cheese, tomato and cheese etc.
They also see bakery bread whole or sliced. German style rye bread is sold sometimes which is worth checking out. Their danish pastries are rather wicked and thickly glazed - handy for buying a dozen or so in a box to take back to the office as an alternative to cakes.
Stiles is open, albeit on a reduced stock level, at weekends to catch the tourist trade.

Try STILES bakery no. 6 Strutton Ground.Bought two macaroon biscuits with a cherry on top for 75 pence each. Simply lovely chewy almond flavoured treats. They also have a selection of french sticks with a variety of different fillings. The prices at this bakery are unbelievably reasonable. A french stick with pastrami and lettuce will set you back about £1.60 and a raisin danish 65p.
I live and work in London: take it from me, this place is truly value for money!! No more Subway,Pret a manger,or Mcdonalds.I walk from my place of work in Trafalgar Sq to this bakery located on a side street close to New Scotland yard on Victoria st.Look for the small street market that identifies Strutton Ground.Takes me 15 minutes but well worth the walk. Can’t recommend this place enough.
If you prefer some fish and chips.Try the chippy at the lower end of the street. The place is always busy not just lunch times, testimony to the good grub served there.A small bag of chips £1.40 a large bag £2.00, cod and chips about £6.75.Portions are always enough to satisfy the most famished.Hope you manage to visit. You will not be disappointed

This is an expereince, they almost have as many people behind the counter as they do queuing out of the door.. it’s the cheaper of the baguette shops down Strutton Ground and great for lunch.. they’ve also got a massive selection of cakes to finish you off..
Just try the Tuna Mayo baguette, I literally think there are two tins of tuna in there - immense

Stiles is a bakery close to St James Park Station where you can find fresh green horning baguettes and other sandwiches.
It is idea for lunch.
Prices start at £1.20 for a ham and cheese and their food is nice.
They also sell pies, birthday cakes and other patisseries like chocolat swiss rolls and lamingtons (my favourites).
I highly recommend it!
