Review of Palazzo Berlin Hauptbahnhof - Hans-Peter Wodarz from 28 February 2012

You’re having a laugh, mate!

I’ve always thought that a price tag of over 5 Euros on a bottle of water was a sign of a rip-off restaurant. Palazzo’s San Pel at 7€50 should, therefore be enough of a hint.

For a start, the food was pretty mediocre for the price and the fuss. The starter and dessert were admittedly tasty: interesting canapés and a selection of chocolate tasters. But the fish course was overcooked and weird. A tasteless piece of white fish on a bed of boiled cabbage in coconut milk green curry. Thai green curry and boiled cabbage? That’s not a blend of cultures – it’s a mistake! The sauce was also bubbly (i.e. overcooked) and watery.

The duck was also a disappointment. If you’re paying over 100€ a head for a meal, then duck should be crispy skinned with tender flesh. I have honestly had a better piece of duck than this at my office canteen for 3€50.

And the show? Ok, there were a few talented performers. But the comedy element was embarrassingly poor. I honestly think people were laughing because they felt so uncomfortable. And every time the waiters served a new course, the band went wild for about 10 minutes with flashing lights and guitar riffs. It wasn’t even so bad it was funny, it was just lame.

Go to Palazzo if you want to sit with people you can’t talk to, eat hyped-up canteen food and watch a second-rate cabaret in a tent in a car park near Hauptbahnhof.

Review of Palazzo Berlin Hauptbahnhof - Hans-Peter Wodarz from 3 February 2010

I once again experienced the following: culture and communication, theater and art, food and drink, music and singing - this artistic culinary square shapes the soul of the restaurant-theater. All four elements of the new show are the balance, the uniqueness of "Wine, Body, and Singing". I enjoyed the rendezvous in the PALAZZO mirror palace and let me enchant, inspire or entertain first class. Hans-Peter Wodarz welcomed us very well and served us to an excellent standard. Even if you are not familiar with Ha-Pe he will serve you well.

Review of Palazzo Berlin Hauptbahnhof - Hans-Peter Wodarz from 22 November 2009

The 2009 Palazzo program offers a new Concept for the experienced dinner theater attendee, and a refreshing and hilarious program for everyone else.
Tickets can be pricey, but try to get a seat in the entrance or middle area as the sightlines from the sides can be easily blocked.
The program itself can be enjoyed by anyone, but in order to understand the many clever spoken comedic moments (of which there are many), one must understand German.
Food is excellent but the drinks are expensive. Pay attention to how much water you drink, it certainly isn't free!
