Make sure you stay in the pedestrian lane, but if you time it right you can experience the bridge just as the sun sets over Manhattan and views of Liberty. I felt like i was in another world even with the amount of traffic racing by and horns beeping. great place to watch the world go by.
It’s quite a long bridge hence a long walk but if you need to burn off some Brooklyn pizza calories this is the way to go.
Lazy devils that we were last time we took a cab into Brooklyn and walked back under the night sky.
It makes me all teary eyed thinking about it.

The Brooklyn Bridge area is very good for photo opportunities and it’s not too far from manhattan on the Subway. Just a short walk from the station and a great reason to visit Brooklyn.

Amazing bridge and nothing can beat when you walk half way across and see the Manhattan skyline on one side and the distant view of the Statue of Liberty on the other.
The lines and cables make the whole thing look like a work of art and it really is a great feat of engineering, as everyone else has said.
Make sure you stay on the side for pedestrians though as there are A LOT of cyclists.

its a classic. walk the full length of it, daytime, evening, night. be warned though, its a long walk. an impressive piece of architecture and the journeys offer great views of and from Manhattan. I’d recommend a pitstop at River Cafe for a few lovely cocktails or dinner (expensive food!) while observing Manhattan by night. I recall a lovely evening with friends drinking dry martinis from here, the river was frozen and the sunset a huge red ball right behind the statue of liberty. it doesn’t get any better than that.

Brooklyn Bridge is spectacular at dawn and at dusk and I can heartily recommend walking over it from the Brooklyn side into New York at either of these times as the views of lower Manhatten are breathtaking.

Not the first thing you think of doing when visiting NYC but it’s worth it. The views towards Brooklyn, Manhattan and across the river are fantastic - I highly recommend it (it’s also a great way to burn off the huge American portions!)

I don’t know all the details about it but I do know it’s rather cool!
Sadly I only got half way across due to terrible hang over and burning hot sun.
Cyclist can get a bit scary shouting at you, which I can understand when people are walking in their lane, but if they can give it they should also take it and leave the pedestrian lane well alone.

This is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, stretches 5,989 feet (1825 m) over the East River connecting the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Once on the bridge you have a wonderful view surronding you.

One of the great engineering marvels of the world….7 times as strong as it needs to be. This bridge will last the test of time. Forget about it’s pioneering efforts however…..walk it!! No matter what time of year, it’s always magical!!
