171 beauty

I just got off the phone, trying to book an appointment for a mani and pedi on the weekend. I was told that I would have to come in during the week to pay a deposit for this (cash deposit that is, as they do not accept cards). I explained that I work late and would not be able to do this. The rude receptionist told me that was their policy and perhaps I should go elsewhere then. I have NEVER experienced such bad service. If this was the treatment I received on the phone, I can just imagine what they are like in person. terrible!!!

My hairdresser deserted me so I screwed up my courage and booked in at 171. I had Consuelo cut and dry my hair and it looked better than it has done for ages. I'm going back to her again soon. Highly recommended and not too expensive.

Never had my hair cut here, but as far as the beauty treatments go, I always get my brows waxed and eye lashes tinted here with the lovely Chloe. She's brilliant at getting all the hair with minimal rips, so much less redness.

Down side of this place is cash only and beauty appointments often overrun when they're busy, so you're not always seen on time.

Very good value though, with both treatments coming in at around £18.

Might not be the most glamorous or modern of beauticians, but they're very good at what they do.

Great beauticians and prices are really reasonable - ask for Fidan (not sure how you spell her name). Remember - they don't take cards but they're happy enough to hold on to your keys or mobile afterwards while you go to the cashpoint!

Really well priced for colour, and they did a great job. Quick too, which is always a bonus if you don't like going to hairdressers. I'd reccommend this place and will be going back.

But watch out for hidden extras - they tried to charge for toner, which i hadn't asked for and wasn't told about, and blowdrying is on top too. You also need to carry cash as they don't take cards.

I decided I needed a haircut and couldn't get into my usual hairdressers, so thought I'd give 171 a go.
I arrived and was asked to wait as the guy cutting my hair was just finishing off his previous client- fine- so they took me through to sit down in the salon. They happened to sit me next to the guy who was about to cut my hair- the client who he was just finishing off was crying. Upon noticing this I decided I needed to listen in to their conversation to see if it was her hair the was causing her distress. It was. Suddenly I was very nervous. Turns out she was off to a big function and brought in a picture of what she wanted and he had used his artistic license to create something rather different. Unsuprisingly I was beginning to question whether I should just run. I decided not to as this would be impolite (and not the British way!) and asked for a trim- only about an inch off please.
I walked out of 171 with about 3 inches less hair than I requested (he started cutting, I was wincing and he told me that it wasn't that much- yeah right) The haircut I got was ok- not what I asked for, the price is quite reasonable- but if you are at all precious over your hair- I most certainly would not recommend!!!!!

Excellent hairdressers and beauticians - always really busy on a Saturday so well worth booking. Good for boys too!
