Holloway’s low-key community arts centre and landmark of my leisurely landscape. Located on Parkhurst Road (a short bus ride from Camden Town, Caledonian Road and Holloway Road), the Arts Factory offers an interesting range of classes, from dance (try Master Francis Angol’s African-Contemporary class) to photography, drawing to drumming. The payment scheme is rather accommodating: you can either pay per term or drop in on the day (on average £6 for 1 hour-class). They also have a café where you can have hot and cold drinks for less than a pound.
So that teenage kicks can come to light, or mature songwriters- belated by everyday life demands- can express themselves, the Arts Factory also provides rehearsing space at competitive rates (£5 to £10/hour), but you’re best booking slots far in advance.
