only been at a lunchtime during the week, but was really impressed with the food. It was all homecooked and fresh to order. It was quick at arriving but maybe because we were the only people there! Would go again, but judging by the other comments I should give the evening a miss!

Halo is a strange experience. It seems too spaced out between tables, the service isn't great and the food isn't a real culinary experience. But, somehow, eating there was a really good move, even though the beer and wine weren't cheap and I've only been back once. I suppose I would recommend it; I just don't know why.

Although I like the pub and really like the outside courtyard which feels really cosy, I've never been a big fan of the food, or the service. I think it is too expensive for what it is, and although it isn't really bad food, it isn't anything really special. The service is pretty quick and friendly though they occasionally make mistakes. The sandwiches are good! Unmissable in a Gloucester Road pub crawl.

One of the trendier bars along the Gloucester Road stretch, Halo offers a sophisticated whilst friendly atmosphere, drinks, and the weekly salsa lessons. Enjoy a slightly pricy glass of wine with friends in this cool little bar.

The food is tasty but sometimes a bit cold. If you're eating there then check out the homemade burgers or the Greek platters - they're always excellent.

The drinks are a bit pricey though, due to it being a bit more upmarket than the Gloucester road pubs so if you just want a few drinks and don't mind pubs then I'd give halo a miss.

The real reason I'm reviewing Halo is that they currently have an open mic poetry night every other Monday, which is great for those who love listening to other people's poetry and/or thinking of performing their own. Sometimes musicians play, but it is mostly poetry. The people there are really friendly and very supportive. It's also a wonderful community atmosphere, and to encourage this they like those who aren’t performing to listen rather than talk amongst themselves. Warning: if you do constantly talk over the performances then do it very very quietly or else people will start giving you evil looks and will tell you to shut up.
