I reallt love this beach, have so many fond memories of going here when I was a child. The beach has been cleaned up and is always busy when the sun comes out. There is also playparks, amusements, public toilets and if you can get into one of the back streets parking very nearby too. Always a great day out.

Having lived in Portobello all my live I have grown up with the luxury of having a beach. But I never get bored of it having a 2 wonderful play park and 2 amusement parks.
The beach is stunning and is even more beautiful when the tide is in need less to say it is always mobbed with the sun is out. So if you like it peaceful watch the weather before you go to sunny and you will not be able to move.
There is also some lovely glassy areas ideal for picnics with out the sand. Not only that there are nice sea front cafe’s and pubs.
Also you are just a 5 minute from the high street which has lots of good places to eat and amazing unique little shops such as as “It’s a small world” doll house shop.
Not to mention it has a wide range of charity shop with i have found so many little lucky in.
Portobello is a amazing place to live and visit

Portobello is a real cool place to visit and live. The weather is never boring (i.e. no sunny days all year round ;¬)). The beach is long and generally clean.
The locals take an interest in their habitat and there is a community feel about the place.
I was born and brought up in Portobello and although I’ve travelled extensively and lived elsewhere for a few years, I have not found any place to entice me to live elsewhere.
On the 24th Aug 2008 from 1pm, Portobello Open Door (a group of local volunteers) is hosting a day of free entertainment, music and dance with fun for all ages. Come along and join in.

Portobello beach was loved by my two kids, it has a playpark and an arcade and even swimming baths on the promenade.
I stumbled across it when i was away with my other half whilst he was working there , my kids could see the sea from the city centre so just asked a taxi driver could they take me to the seafront . Was pleasantly surprised must admit the first time i went the weather wasnt great but the second time we went we had a great time as it was a lovely day.
My impressions of the beach was lovely and clean , my kids had a paddle even though it was a bit cold.
The town itself is nice too although we couldnt really find anywhere to eat with the kids.
