My friend is married with a guy she met at the swan and they have two kids been together for almost 10 years… I think the swan is fantastic!

I love this place!! If you want to go somewhere for a few late drinks and a bit of a dance this is the place to head to. The crowd are friendly, the booze is relatively cheap for 'club' prices and it's open til 5.

The Very Best Irish Pub in the World, outside Ireland. The crack is good in Stockwell. The Dubliners, the Wolfetones, and The Clancy Brothers, would love it, if they were around, to visit it, and play there. Dr Dev, from Exeter.

touted as an old IRA haunt, so they say! They also say that people like Starbucks…

Hmmmm, I used to live around the corner from this place and the fact I only visited a few times kinda sums it up for me!
It’s directly opposite Stockwell tube station, which makes it handy for transport. Appears to only be open on friday & saturday nights. I don’t know if I was always just drunk but the place seemed pretty huge on a couple of levels with numerous bars. It is a TOTAL meat market(!!) with lots of groups of 'lads’ out on the piss. Bands seemed average upstairs, turning into 'nightclub’ music in the wee hours, whilst the downstairs bar at the time played dedicated cheesey pop / radio friendly music…...not my thing really which is prob why I only tolerated the place those few times! I do recall the bouncers were really friendly though - which is always a nice surprise! So guess if you lived in the area & had friends up for a skanky night there - then fine - go ahead & experience it - but otherwise wouldn’t bother making an effort to seek it out - you’d be better off checking out the numerous bars of clapham further up or even a few places round Brixton!

The Swan scares me a little. It's one of those places that you walk past on your way home late on a Friday night and there is always someone lying on the pavement outside mumbling incoherently and looking very green
It's famous for hosting the 'best' tribute bands the world has to offer (Nearvana, The Antarctic Monkeys, etc), but it's also famous for being a bit of a meat market too (there's a club upstairs called the Swan's Nest).
If I was ten years younger I'd probably give this place more stars as it's undoubtedly good fun and the people who come stumbling out of there are usually smiling and laughing (if they're not being sick) but as I'm now a cynical old man I'll have to give it just three.
