Fitness First gyms are usually very basic. No swimming pool and small. This one is no exception. However, for only £35 a month in London it's not bad.

It's your basic run of the mill stuff- treadmills, weights area, cross trainers, sauna, steam room, classes and a juice bar (a sofa with a drinks machine) to hang around in and read the paper afterwards. On the bright side you do get free tea, coffee and soft drinks so that's a plus!

The staff here are fairly friendly, young and know all about the classes.

Something to note is that you have to have a 12 month contract- I've just moved away and they've allowed me to suspend it for a few months, but I still have to pay £7.50 a month for the priviledge!
