If you want to learn a foreign language properly without having to go to university, the International House is probably the best address in London. They offer various languages, from Arabic and Mandarin to Spanish and German. All are taught by native speakers, and what's more, they teach them at all levels from Holiday-crash courses to advanced learning.
Also they help to arrange language exchanges with native speakers interested in improving their English.
But at 200+ quid for an 11-week evening course they are also one of the most expensive schools. At least I couldn't find anyone that charged more.
