Love the walls with all the rock photography but thats about it. The music is hit and miss but the worse thing is the drink prices! I also think it doesn’t have much atmosphere, I can’t put my finger on why but it just lacks something!
MOJO Manchester is a God amongst men of the Manchester bar world.
The music is epic, producing the best atmosphere. Everyone in there seems to share a love of good booze, good music and good times; and that’s exactly what you’ll get.
Every time I go I tell myself I’m going for one, then I’ll move on, but as soon as I get in there I know I’m in for the whole night.
Every bartender is a young woman’s dream and makes it their mission to make sure the bar is as buzzing as possible.
MOJO tends to be filled with mainly 20-somethingers like myself, with the odd 30+. I’ve never had a bad experience in MOJO, unlike so many other bars.
MOJO, I love you.
i like this place early doors
good music
great staff
good cocktail knowledge and freindly banter about the evening and chats about whats going on in the city that night,
Reviewed using Blackberry. Get the app
too busy, crap music, too expensive!
i like to go around places thats why im writing reviews its a recommendable place
Sadly gone downhill recently.
Very expensive drinks for what you get. The bartenders are quick to serve but seem to serve their mates first.
What a rubbish venue. I wont be going there again. The bar staff and the bouncers were rude. Avoid
I've only been to Mojo once and to be honest, it was one of the worst nights I've ever had in Manchester.
This of course, comes with the caveat of 'I'm willing to accept that I may have caught it on a bad night'.
The drinks were okay (despite the lack of anything on tap), much like the music. Perhaps it's the snob in me, but on the way to the bar, we were predicting what the place would play and we pretty much all got Tune Bingo (Kings of Leon, Stone Roses, The Doors, etc etc).
Again, maybe it was just a bad night, but the atmosphere felt like the fallout from the bad old Hacienda days, with the Ben Sherman crew getting up in people's faces.
One notable event was that a 40something skinhead squared up to my girlfriend after he'd tried to steal our drinks.
The venue was, in fairness, rammed (but not uncomfortably so) and looked the part for a no frills night out.
Maybe if I try it again I'll have a real hoot there, but my first impression left a very sour taste in my mouth indeed.
Absolutely amazing cocktails and atmosphere. There were two guys behind the bar and the place was filled to the rafters, but he service was still quite quick and really proffessional - they really knew what they were doing. Me and the girls were dancing on the chairs and the music was just awesome! It's a very 'cool' place to be.
Mojo is a genius idea! A rock 'n' roll bar with a touch of class, it's perfect for if you're an Indie kid who wants to go somewhere a bit special.
There's a great selection of booze here, including lovely cocktails, interesting beers (eg. Brooklyn Lager) and - to my excitement - a rum menu! The music's fantastic too, usually Indie or rock that'll have you nodding your head and tapping your feet in the cool New York-style booths.
And if all that wasn't good enough, the Bar's 9 to 5 offer is the perfect way to let your hair down after a hard week at work. Although there was no chilli on offer when I last went, I did get some free wasabi peanuts, which were just as tasty!
MOJO is and always will be a slick, high octane environment with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our extensive liquor selection is selected and overseen by award winning staff and a rum specialism makes us the only bar to be selling more rum than vodka. Early evening customers can relax in our red booth seating and enjoy a coherent conversation with friends, enjoying one of our sharing punch bowls, or sit at the bar and chat to a bartender. Then as the bar goes into full throttle later on the drinks rails ensure that those who like to get up and dance don’t spill their drinks!
The upstairs Rhum Room, as well as being home to one of the largest and most varied collections of Rhum in the North, offers extra room during busy times. It can also be hired for private parties and the ever popular Drinks Class masterclasses, where you can learn from the best how to make the perfect cocktails to impress friends and colleagues.
Despite its small size MOJO Leeds has played host to several acoustic band offerings plus the Elvis Night in August and Christmas Gospel Choir evening have both become legendary in the Leeds calendar.
I’ve become a bit of a Mojo regular; it has such a great vibe, chilled out, unpretentious, lively, fantastic drinks menu and the cocktails are first class. It’s great for a bit of a boogie too. Music tends to be indie/rock with a few classics thrown in. Always guaranteed a good night!
Mojo is a cracking alternative bar. Hidden above Starbucks, down the bottom of Bridge Street, it’s so well hidden that I have broken in through the fire escape before now thinking it was the main entrance. The walls are adorned with pictures of Rock and Roll legends past and present and the soundtrack reflects this. The clientele ranges from young to older; it’s really laid back and offers something a bit different from some of the usual bars. Be warned though, this bar gets rammed so get in there early; it’s a great pre club bar if you’re heading to South.
quite a trendy indie bar, but a little bit hidden if you dont know where to be looking. its upstrairs around the corner from the back of kedals, totally missable during the day. its very popular so if you dont get there early be prepared to queue. you may also be waiting a little while to get drinks as the bar gets very busy. there is some eating areas and areas to dance. its a long bar rather than a large one so inyou can get a bit of squashing as people move form one end to the other. very nice bar, only has the probles that all popular bars have.
great varity of live music always availible if in need of a good night. always pretty busy but in a good way.
"Music for the people" is the mantra of this cool bar. No inhouse DJ's but MP3's played by bar staff and music ranges from indie to rock to pop. Good range of cocktails and great friendly service from bar staff. Noticed that this place had an older crowd. Food is served during the day and a nice place to eat at lunchtime. Fills up quite quickly at the weekend and you can wait a while to get served. Good party atmosphere. Off the usual circuit but worth a visit. Good pre club bar. No entry fee.
Mojo is one of the best bars in Manchester where you can let your hair down and really have a laugh. It is a music (rock/ indie) themed bar and the music is brilliant. They play all the classic anthems with rarities thrown in too. The bar staff are very friendly and by the end of the night they are known to dance on the bar itself! The cocktails are amazing- they have every one under the sun and the prices are reasonable too. highly recommended.
It would probably be wrong to call this place a hidden gem as its so popular now on weekends, but when you're trying to find it, it certainly feels hidden. Above a Starbucks round the back of Deansgate, I remember this place as Tapas Tapas, a slightly dodgy Spanish joint, but maybe I'm showing my age. These days its a crazy free-for-all rock/cocktail bar. Its a conradictory place - there's no entrance fee, there's hardly any room inside, the cocktails are great, the music manages to delight a range of ages and nationalities, and if you're lucky you might catch one of the nights when the bar staff get on the bar to dance and pour spirits in ecstatic punters mouths.
Part of a small chain, Mojo is hidden off the beaten track but is a must see for rock fans. The walls are covered in rock and pop posters and photos, and the bar has an edgy but classy feel to it. Unfortunately, there always seem to be more people than seats! Perfect for a pre-South or pre-42nd Street drink due to it's close proximity.
