A lovely little greengrocers- everything is so much more tasty than what you get used to in supermarkets.

Brilliant shop with lovely veg that is well priced. I particularly like their eggs, really tasty, big bright yokes and much cheaper than the supermarket. For lunch, they also sell Jordan Valley falafel, hummus and babaganoush. Yumyum :)

I have recently moved to Leith and one of these days accidently dropped in Tattie Shaws – what a great surprise it was to see an authentic greengrocery with friendly staff saying “How are you?” and full of kale, beetroot, artichoke, wild mushrooms, sage and what not! It’s like having a farmers’ market open daily. Many thanks to people who run this shop for the great job they are doing.

What a relief to find a decent veg shop!
When I moved to the bottom of Broughton Street I was really disappointed not to find a decent place to pick up my fruit in veg- the limitless, often past-it offerings sold at the newsagents was just not suffice. Elm Row is a little out my way, but Tattie Shaws is oh-so worth it.

Its great to have a proper fruit and veg shop right on your doorstep. Tattie Shaws is where I do all my fruit & veg shopping, such a different experience from the same old supermarket trawl. Prices are reasonable, quality is high. Staff are a great help too if, like me, you don't know your Sugary Bumpkins from your Lengthy Callahoes!

If your sick of tasteless fruit and veg from the supermarkets then you have to try “Tattie Shaws” freshest, tastiest, sweetest, and thats just James! Honestly, customer service with a smile, good prices, and a very wide variety of fruit, veg and for your storecupboard needs. Support your local small business, it’s well worth it!

Tattie Shaws on Elm Row(at the top of Leith Walk) is a lovely green grocer that reminds me of the kind of shops every village used to have when you were little. The sales assistant in here are really helpful (especially when you don’t know what some of the stranger vegetables are!) and are always willing to help out with recipes.
They have a huge range of vegetables and fruits and all are really fresh. There’s also a selection of tinned goods, pulses, nuts and dried fruits. The variety of produce is very diverse and tends to be pretty seasonal, so you can tell you’re getting local, organic, fresh goods. This is one of the few places in Edinburgh where you can get some of the obscurer vegetables and fruits mentioned in celebrity cook books, and it’s nice not to have to pay the over inflated prices that some places charge.
Definitely worth a visit, even if its just to guess what some of the vegys are!

A greengrocers? So much more than just that.
Tattie’s has outstandingly fresh and delicious produce, seasonal and organic, perfect for buying on your way home to cook up straight away that evening for supper.
Even more than that, the produce is fairly priced and the staff are always helpful.
It seems like a place that’s almost frozen in time - in a good way - and a store like we used to have years ago before they all became supermarkets. It’s the kind of store that deserves to stay alive in harsh economic conditions because it truly provides a quality product and service.

This is my favourite produce shop. Traditional, quality, choice and it’s always busy which lets me know that it’s worth while!
They offer a great choice of produce which is fresh, organic, quality, well priced.
I recommend a visit highly!

it is worth going out of your way to tattie shaws.
as well as a range of vegetables and fruit to compare to the best supermarkets they were selling specialist vegetables before anyone else got onto that bandwagon. I have never had rotten fruit and vegetables from here and you can usually guarantee finding the fresh herbs you need. they also sell a good range of speciality breads and a range of nuts and dried fruit to compare with many health food stores

Tattie Shaw's is a great reasonably priced produce shop that comes in handy for an aspiring Gordon Ramsay wannabe. Tattie Shaw's is located just near Elm Row, and unlike its neighbour, Valvona & Crolla, the produce and foodstuffs are not exorbitantly priced. Tattie Shaw's has a very cute, Amelie-esque storefront- hanging skeins of onions hang from the top, and there are lovely displays of seasonal vegetables and fruit. Inside, its a pretty tiny space- with the space being taken up with oodles and oodles of fresh food at reasonable rates. Today, I bought a huge, fresh cauliflower at just 0.50 pence. There are varieties of lettuce and mushrooms, as well as fresh and dried herbs on offer. There is a fridge that has cheese, mainly cheddar and feta varieties, milk and yoghurt, a bread stand with locally produced organic bread. There are also shelves of canned goods such as anchovies (0.69 pence!) and beans, as well as two whole shelves of dried goods like nuts and rice and cous cous. I've only ever had one shop assistant (he must work pretty hard because I've gone in hundreds of times, all on different days at different times) and he is very helpful and cheerful. For instance, today he told me to go for the smoked garlic to make my sauce- even though it was the cheaper option of what I was debating. He always is personable and talks about what you're cooking or about the weather ( a common topic of interest in Edinburgh). Though one would be enticed to go as per the display (lovely) and the array (vast) of the food, the prices are the real reason for returning time and time again. If you are a new cook or a seasoned one, you won't beat the freshness or quality at those prices. In addition, at the supermarket, it can be hard to get the exact amount of a food that you want as most things are packaged (and aren't that fresh at that). Here it is easy to do so. You can even buy vegetable or chicken stock cubs individually! (0.17 pence!)
