I went here the other day after reading the previous review. Mcc1986 is absolutely right: Dunbar’s Close is a hidden gem. I’ve also been living in the area for two years now and never knew about it, until I read said review. I love that not only are the gardens well maintained and beautifully laid out, but there are plenty of benches for you to sit on and soak up ‘nature and tranquility’. Definitely a must if you want to quick break from the crowds on the Royal Mile.

This place is such a hidden secret I lived two minutes walk from it for months before realising what was beind the beautiful iron gates. It's a magical public garden, too small to be a park hidden in the midst of the Royal miles closes. Laid out like an authentic 17th Century garden, it's open until it gets dark every day and as so few people know about it, you can often sit there undisturbed for hours enjoying the herbs and feeling of going back in time.
