Love this place as long as it’s not too packed. Has a proper local country pub feel which is really nice for the middle of Bristol. The Cider is yummy, as long as you get a type that suits you!
Lovely place for a good drink. Cider is the drink of the West Country....so embrace it. A few less students would be good, but they do liven the place up.
Exhibition please.....
if your a student or a partygoer this is the place to go, one of the best pubs i have ever been to
Aaah. The Corrie Tap. Small pub in Clifton. Decor not high on the list of priorities in this place and so it shouldn’t be. The priority is cider and boy do they do this well. Many a time myself and mates have taken people to this place to let them try the Exhibition. I have a good night everytime I go there, however I always have difficulty remembering when I left or where I went to next. Great fun to see drunk guys walk into the ladies loo instead of going out the back door. Love cider? You have to go to the Corrie!
The Coronation Tap is a small pub located in Clifton which is one of the nicest areas of bristol. It serves the famous exibition cider, along with several other varieties of ciders. the ciders are extra strong and hence only served in half pints!
Famous for it’s Cider this is a really good pub. In Clifton which is one of the nicer areas to go out in Bristol. Surrounded by lots of other nice pubs and a couple of bars as well
The Coronation Tap is one of the West Country’s best cider places. It is famous for its exhibtion cider that is so strong it is only served in half pints. You don’t even see the cider being served- they print out a whole lot of half pints that have already been pored on a tray.
Exhibtion cider really messes with your head- four half pints and you will be very drunk! It’s a very popular place with the students as the cider is cheap and tastes very good. It’s also situated in the heart of Clifton. It’s busy every night and can get a bit too rowdy at the weekends. If you want to go there, you need to take either the 8 or 9 bus as they are the only ones that actually go through Clifton.
I used to pop in for a cider or two, a real good choice of cider with some nice cloudy stuff too. I believe you can still only order the exhibition cider in halfs as it’s so strong. Lovely atmosphere and situated in Clifton so central to most of Bristol.
The Corrie Tap as is it affectionately known is most popular for selling a selection of different extra strong ciders! The pub is a little hidden away in Clifton, and is a small and cosy pub. It is very popular with students. It is advisable to get the the pub early if you want to be able to sit around a table with friends, as it is very popular and seating is a little limited.
When I first came to Bristol, my friends said we needed to go there for the cider. I’m not a big cider fan, but was willing to see the place.
Lovely old building down a side street in Clifton, one has to make a point of going there since it’s a bit off the beaten track.
We were instructed to purchase only 1/2 pints at a time due to the strength. And, we soon found out why! Drunken students who dared each other to drink more than the half pints were falling over and worse.
It’s an interesting place, but one I’d want to visit when the students weren’t around
If you have been to the “The Tap” and experienced the exhibition cider then you will fully appreciate the term “Have you been corried”. The coronation tap is a rare place , a centuries old building serving some of the best cider around and providing some great live bands to boot.
What an amazing little pub! The first positive has to be its cosy feel and atmosphere - it must be the only pub I know not to be cutting back on central heating due to the credit crunch! The locals are really friendly, although its a real 'regulars’ type pub, it doesn’t matter if your face is new. I’m not an expert on all the different types of beers available, however, I’ve been told that there’s not a bad selection at the Coronation Tap. I’ve spent a few lovely Sunday Afternoons in there enjoying the papers and the drinks. Could this be one of a dying breed of 'local, corner of the street pubs’?
I think most people have already said it. But you have to come here and have a pint (or half as it’s served) of Exhibition Cider. A nice smooth cider, that does not taste as alcoholic as it should do. Tucked away down a quiet Clifton side street, you may need help finding it, and if you have too many Exhibitions your sure going to need help finding your way home.
The Coronation Tap may only mean one thing to many people and that’s it’s famous 'Exhibition Cider’, and it’s true, this cider is something to be famous for. Served in half pints only, this strong local cider attracts hordes of thirsty friends. Aside from this spectacle, the bar has lovely old decor and has a friendly warm atmosphere. Located in Clifton Village, it is a handy place to go for those on there way into town as well as those who want to avoid the city centre to sit back and enjoy. Much worth a visit and a sample!
The Coronation Tap is heaving with students-and nothing wrong with that ,I used to be one ,getting loaded up on strong cider-noything wrong with that-I used to do that as well.I am slightly confused by the opening hours at the Corrie Tap which when I went on a Friday night seemed to cease at 11 pm which was a tad early, but then I suppose it was probably time for those half my age (or a little less)to hit the nightclubs and the place would have emptied anyway.
Went back on the Saturday afternoon to see whether the Exhibition cider which is only sold in halves really did taste like diesel or whether it was just my imagination to find it closed.I think it must only open briefly in the evenings for students to have a 4 hour blitz-nothing wrong with that-if youre a student…Had been looking forward to it on my trip to Bristol and had heard so much about it,but it was a major dissappointment
The Corrie Tap has a bit of a reputation for selling Exhibition Cider - possibly one of the nicest ciders available, and one of the most sneakily alcoholic! (Tastes just like normal apple juice, until you fall over drunk!)
Its quite a small venue, which is a shame, as it certainly can get busy enough (especially on Wednesday nights for students iirc!)
Definitely somewhere I take people to who don’t normally like cider because Exhibition can convert most people!
Shhh… don’t tell everyone, we cider-drinkers like some space to enjoy the unpredicable fungal growths at the bottom of a barrel of cider. How else was Brunel inspired to build the nearby Suspension Bridge? He might have been born in Hampshire but in his formative years he was studying in Caen, and we all know Normandy cider is (almost) as good as that from Somerset…
This pub is always packed out with students but its worth a visit for the Exhibition Cider which is served in Half-Pints and lined up on the bar, its tasty but seriously strong cider!
The Corry Tap as it’s known to many, is a rowdy cider drink’in pub. So giving this a star rating is pretty pointless as if you are a student who likes cider this is a five star pub. If you are not a cider drinker this place would be like hell to you.
The cider here is very good and deceptively strong. The best thing though is if you like Cider but don’t want to suffer the students or the horrible decor etc then if you bring an empty bottle with you they will fill it off the tap and you can take it home with you (or the nearest park bench depending on what type of cider drinker you are).
Personally, I very rarely drink Cider, infact, this is the only place that I will choose it over beer or other beverages, which is as much praise as the corry tap deserves.
Unfortunately for me i’m getting old (almost every day it seems) so the atmosphere here does nothing for me anymore. The only reason to come here is the cider, the good news is you don’t have to stay to drink it.
I have given this place two stars however add a star to this for every one of the below which may relate to you
Student.
Cider Drinker.
Raging Alcoholic.
Tramp.
