an all round student bar- ok but lacking in atmosphere, stuck between a bar and a pub and not that attractive if you are over 21. I thought this place was great during the Eurocultured as the live bands really brightened the place up. In the week it feels cold and the music is too quiet to hear but loud enough to make you wonder if it is just one cd on a loop? Ok for a pint of ale if your in the oxford st area.

Font is a great place to visit, offering hearty meals and night time entertainment on a budget in central Manchester. With a menu based around simple favourites such as burgers and sandwiches, with large sidedishes, and cocktails are a bargain costing £2 all day, every day. After eating, visitors can enjoy free entertainment from local DJs in the chilled out downstairs area, or play Playstation on the big screen upstairs. Font attracts a wide range of people, who mingle together in a friendly, laid back atmosphere. All in all, I would recomend it!

Font is a great independent bar, different to the run of the mill chain pubs that litter the city centre. Very cool and trendy, without being pretentious, the atmosphere in Font is relaxed and friendly. Mainly frequented by students at night, it can get extremely busy. You may have to wait to get in, and at busy times you will almost certainly struggle to get a table. The main problem is the bar queue. Font is worth the effort, with a good range of beers, and the main attraction being the huge menu of cocktails for only £2. Font is much more quiet in the day, but is definitely worth a visit for lunch, with a very reasonably priced menu. A great bar.

Font is a pretty cool bay, I rarely drink there in the evening as it is mainly students, but lunch time (mid afternoon to me), is a great place to get away from the crowds and enjoy reasonable, cooked and priced food. Staff are mainly pretty cool and overall, it gets 7 out of 10 for me, I think whatever your tastes you will enjoy. Enjoy!

Really great bar just under the arches by Oxford Road station and what was A1 music back in the day, my own personal mecca for many years.
The best night out I had here was when the 'In The City’ music festival was on in September 2001 and I saw the now legendary 'Honey Shop Screamers’ perform “Songs from English Motorways’ - a classic gig. The band, as far I know, are now sadly defunct, but the bar lives on.
Well worth a look.

Another of Manchester’s hidden gems, located next to the Space “continuum” on New Wakefield Street (the road between the Thirsty Scholar and Revolution).
It’s a fun little bar on two levels with some of the cheapest bar food in town (pretty much everything on the menu is less than a fiver), they serve breakfast til five and all other food til 8pm, they’ve got wraps, burgers, sandwiches, salads - in my experience it’s pretty good too ( :
They also do £2 cocktails and two for one on Tiger beer, given the prices in some bars these days, these are very good offers.
If you’re a fan of the Pro Evolution football franchise on the Playstation, you might want to try here - they have PES '08 wired up to a big screen in the main bar, tho it can get busy round there in the evenings.
Well worth a visit, especially if you want a good night out without breaking the bank….

What is one to do when totally skint, but up for a glam cocktail and a dizzy dance? Hot-foot it down to Font, that’s what!
£2 cocktails? They must be flavoured water, right? Nope, these little concoctions are the genuine stuff, and the Pink Floyd has got to be my fave tipple. It’s a great pre-club venue, can get pretty packed out on a Fri/Sat night, but well worth it if you can get a table/sofa downstairs. There are areas to book for private functions, and sometimes there’s live music too.
Usually quite a young crowd, mostly students, but well worth a visit if only for the cheap cocktails before heading over to Sub-space or into town.

£2 a cocktail…? yes really! At that price there’s no excuse not to try a selection of the concoctions that Font has to offer, with particular mention going to the Apple Mojito, Jimboree (Jim Beam, cherry liqueur and cranberry) and the Yellow Submarine (Midori, Martini Rosso and lemonade).
The crowd is cool, and it’s a good place to go to avoid the usual hoards of students as they may not venture down this small side street, but it’s definately worth coming out of your way for the experience.
The mood lighting, comfy sofas and various seating areas make this a great place to chill out, or have a boogie if the cocktails hit the spot!
