no idea what that pictures supposed to be but i live approx 2second walk from it & never seen it like that! anyway very good cocktails all £2, £3 or £5! only downside RUBBISH music! & not even like s club 7 rubbish, music ive never ever heard of :S need to get a DJ in there so people can request!
£2, £3 and £4 cocktails!
Although it’s interior isn’t great and it can get rather busy…cheap cocktails are always a winner. If you prefer beer there’s 2 for 1 on tiger beer before 10pm. And i think it’s 12-8pm, when you can get a bottle of wine for £7!
It’s easy for anyone to enjoy themselves here, especially when you consider that 10 cocktails would only cost £20! Due to all of this, it obviously gets quite busy at times.
Cheap cocktails, what more can I say.. It's possible to get drunk in there very quickly!
A student haven, it is full of pretentious types but life goes on. It gets real busy in there on the w/end so prepare for 3 row deep queues.
You'll either love it or hate it.
Font is a place I always find myself forgetting about whenever I'm in Manchester, and then when I end up there I always feel a fool for not remembering it sooner. Like the other have reviews have mentioned, it's not especially stylish or sophisticated, but it is friendly, comfortable and best of all, cheap.
I prefer it outside of term-time, if only because it makes getting to the bar and back less of a monstrous feat, and because it means the staff are less frazzled and more easygoing and friendly. Their regular offers mean there's always food and booze to suit most tastes and budgets, and there's a good range of veggie dishes too.
Although from the main road it looks like a tiny tucked-away bar, it's impressively Tardis-like inside, and there's often DJs or occasionally live music on downstairs. You can hire certain areas for parties and other events, and even though it was years ago now they get bonus points for the fact that during my 18th birthday celebrations in this establishment, my oh-so-hilarious friends hired me a stripper.
To this day I don't know whether or not they ran it past the staff first, but they were very accommodating and relaxed about it - despite the dramatic and unexpected entrance of an oiled-up gyrating pretend policeman...
I may just be getting too old for this, but I felt very uncomfortable at my recent (and only) visit to Font! I'm sure that going on a Friday night didn't help, but it was totally rammed, very hot and sweaty (this was in November, I hate to think what it must be like during the summer months) and the lurid-looking cheap cocktails did not tempt me. Perhaps I'd have enjoyed it more if I'd indulged...
When I hear the phrase 'Cocktail Bar' it can strike some fear into my heart at times, with many in the city having more style than substance and almost zero atmosphere to offer.
Thankfully Font is a different kettle of fish. The cocktail menu isn't huge, but there's definitely something for everyone, even if you're uninitiated to the world of sexy drinks in silly glasses. Font's menu is very reasonably priced for the amount of booze in each glass, with 2 for 1 offers on regularly too.
The bar isn't overly glamorous, instead opting for cosy armchairs and pleasantly mismatched stools dotted around a sizeable two floor bar. The result is a more relaxed atmosphere, welcoming you in wearing your jeans and trainers just as much as those nights when you've got your party frock on. And it isn't totally packed with young women, either, instead housing a great mix of guys and girls of different types under one roof.
The clientele skews towards a student-aged crowd during term time, but there's rarely a rowdy feeling that can sometimes accompany that sort of crowd. Overall, a great place to stop off for one (or three) drinks at any point of your evening.
Cheap cocktails and good atmosphere. Mostly filled with student crowd. There is plenty of seats and room.
Font has a good range of cheap cocktails and is a good place to start off on a night out. It's not the most glamarous of places, but what you see is what you get.
To get the taste of Saturday night in Manchester, head to Oxford Road, and especially to Font Bar. Bear in mind, though, that you will be queueing up outside, as the place is immensely popular. Inside await good cocktails, students, trendy looks and short dresses, and two floors of partying crowd. I know a few groups who go there regularly and always enjoy the night whenever I join them.
It doesn't get much cheaper than this for cocktails! £2 for all standard cocktails (mojitos, gin tonics, etc.) and still only £3 for the expensive ones. They also had a 2 for 1 beer offer on before 10pm. Yes, you can get very drunk for very little money here.
Unsurprisingly, the crowd is pretty studenty, but it's a good crowd. However, being located in Manchester city centre almost necessitates having doormen unfortunately, but even so I was pretty surprised to actually get asked for ID on my way in.
Unpretentious and thoroughly fun, "The Font" is a bar which refuses to take itself too seriously - something which makes a refreshing change from the many style bars you find around Manchester City Centre. Its great atmosphere - and its legendary £2 cocktails - have made it a firm favourite amongst Manchester's huge student community, and go in there on a Friday night and you'll often find yourself having to barge your way to the bar in order to get served.
Font also does a pretty decent selection of food, making it a great place to pop into for a quick spot of lunch if you're ever in the Oxford Road area. I particularly like their rather yummy wraps which are served with chips and go very well with the 2-for-£3 bottles of Peroni which are often on offer there.
All in all, The Font is a great little bar to pay a visit to if you're ever in the area, especially if you're watching your pennies and fancy a cheap - yet fun - night out.
Font deserves a big pat on the back for making cocktails so affordable. At £2 a pop, they’re the cheapest in town! However, if a Sex on the Beach or Gin Fizz doesn’t float your boat, there’s also some great early evening wine and beer offers, as well as a few real ales to choose from.
The food is just as well priced. There’s a simple Mexican and Middle Eastern inspired menu that’s packed with veggie friendly dishes, like nachos, chilli, burgers, hummous and halloumi. I’m a big fan of the vegetarian burritos. YUM!
As you’d expect from a place that sells £2 cocktails, this isn’t really a place for glamour girls. Still, if you like sticky floors, an Indie soundtrack and cheap booze, it’s a winner!
Cheap cocktails, plenty of seats, not a bad place to pass through. Wouldn't want to spend a whole night here though
Font is a funny little place. First off, it's clearly a student pub. If that's the kind of thing that puts you off then you should steer well clear of the place (and probably have a bit of think about your life as they're not that bad really).
The music is brash, as is the decor. It's a decent sized place that occasionally opens the doors to live music.
The beer is reasonable enough and one of the most important things about it is that, after a certain time when the pubs start closing, it's one of the few places down the side of Oxford Road train station that doesn't try charging you a fiver-plus to get in.
It doesn't really know what it is - it's neither pub nor bar. However, with cheap cocktails on the menu and bargain pints, it's a regular fixture for those on a budget.
an all round student bar- ok but lacking in atmosphere, stuck between a bar and a pub and not that attractive if you are over 21. I thought this place was great during the Eurocultured as the live bands really brightened the place up. In the week it feels cold and the music is too quiet to hear but loud enough to make you wonder if it is just one cd on a loop? Ok for a pint of ale if your in the oxford st area.
Font is situated just by Oxford Road train station. A colourfully decorated place mainly frequented by students, this place offers a great range of beers for a good price. Both food and drink are quite cheap for the area, with offers on cocktails available some nights of the week, although they aren’t fantastically made. Worth a visit
Font is a great place to visit, offering hearty meals and night time entertainment on a budget in central Manchester. With a menu based around simple favourites such as burgers and sandwiches, with large sidedishes, and cocktails are a bargain costing £2 all day, every day. After eating, visitors can enjoy free entertainment from local DJs in the chilled out downstairs area, or play Playstation on the big screen upstairs. Font attracts a wide range of people, who mingle together in a friendly, laid back atmosphere. All in all, I would recomend it!

cheap trendy student-orientated cocktail bar! at just £2 a cocktail its a definate must on a night out even if you just start off there before moving elsewhere later in the night! a brilliant night out with some great music and a friendly atmosphere!
Font is a great independent bar, different to the run of the mill chain pubs that litter the city centre. Very cool and trendy, without being pretentious, the atmosphere in Font is relaxed and friendly. Mainly frequented by students at night, it can get extremely busy. You may have to wait to get in, and at busy times you will almost certainly struggle to get a table. The main problem is the bar queue. Font is worth the effort, with a good range of beers, and the main attraction being the huge menu of cocktails for only £2. Font is much more quiet in the day, but is definitely worth a visit for lunch, with a very reasonably priced menu. A great bar.
Font is a pretty cool bay, I rarely drink there in the evening as it is mainly students, but lunch time (mid afternoon to me), is a great place to get away from the crowds and enjoy reasonable, cooked and priced food. Staff are mainly pretty cool and overall, it gets 7 out of 10 for me, I think whatever your tastes you will enjoy. Enjoy!
