Bushy Park is the lesser know neighbour of Hampton Court Park. From central London you can get the tube to Richmond and then a bus from there, or a train to Hampton Wick. So is it worth it? I’ve been a few times for running events: notably the weekly time trial that’s held there. If you run it’s a lovely, friendly and well organised event, and totally free. If you don’t run what you’ll find is a large park, that’s pretty much flat. There is a fenced off woodland area that’s very pretty. Also a good play ground and toilets near the large Diana Fountain. Most notably though, Bushy is the best place I know of in London to see free-roaming deer. Most parks have them in an enclosure, while Richmond Park is too large to guarantee being in the right place at the right time. Here if you are willing to take an hour or two walking round you are sure to see them. You might also see (or perhaps hear first…) a woodpecker, or some of the brilliant green parakeets that have well and truly colonised South West London.
