Greta place for a lunch with friends, do some great paninis and baguettes plus hot food and salads. Only drawback is the size so seating can be a problem.
Used to be a little smoky but no longer with the smoking ban.

After spending a number of years living in California, when I returned to Birmingham I was dismayed to re-discover the paucity of lunch options. Eating on campus was and is crap. Staff House, the University Centre or the Guild. At least the guild now has a subway I guess. It used to be just Chicken Joes. Great.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to discover Mud cafe. They do the best sandwiches and lunches in the vacinity of the university.

Mud is situated right in the heart of the student community in Birmingham. It serves suprisingly good food at student-friendly prices. The paninis are gorgeous, but the salads are a speciality too, and to finish there's plenty of muffins, cookies and cakes to chose from.
Its the perfect place to go and chill out as there's always loads of magazines to read which will keep you going through your guaranteed new hot chocolate addiction.
