I really wish I’d discovered this sooner. It makes up for the lack of a Woolies in the town centre. Bits ‘n’ bobs and everything in-between with an old-fashioned service and casual, friendly attitude which you rarely see anymore.

The prices are great, the quality can be beaten but is good considering the price, and they’re bound to have what you want. The only trouble is trying to find what you want and leaving without buying hundreds of extra gadgets that you really can’t live without!

Freds Discount Store is one of the essentials of the Cowley Road - forget high prices of DIY chains and make Fred’s your one-stop shop.

It used to be tiny - but they fit everything in - now they’ve renovated and there is tons of space.

I go in there and buy cheap dog bones for my border collie - 35p compared to £2-3 pounds at the Supermarket and my bank account is laughing.

Honestly, they have everything - if you don’t see it, ask one of the friendly staff - it will be there somewhere - promise!

Oh yeah and they do everything too - key cutting service, you name it.

From steak knives to spatulas, Fred's is a mecca for students. I remember buying a door bell from Fred's for 75p. 75p! It sounded like the end of the world when anyone rang it, but i still think that's fantastic value. Fred's is also great for stationary, raw plugs, pillows and garden furniture. Yup, they sell pretty much anything you can think of at rock bottom prices.

Situated on cowley road, Fred's is the ultimate store for findin absolutly anything. ranging from power strips, cooking equipment, sheets and much much more. it is you one stop shop for everything you cant find anywhere else. the friendly staff are extremely helpful and, if you dont want an entire set of kitchen knives, the will open up the box and just sell you the meat cleaver...its all about making a sale. so stop in and test them....so if you can leave without buying something you couldnt have lived without before
