It’s my new neighbourhood and I love it! SO many things to see and do - cultural as well as touristy - and there’s hardly a weekend goes by without some sort of festival or event. Really an amazing area that works separately and as a whole.

Proof if ever I saw, that life south of the river is much more fun! All the expensive visitor attractions you could ever want to see; the millenium wheel; the aquarium; the national theatre (actually tickets are only £10) and some freebies - like watching gormless tourists waiting for the moving statues to perform, the skateboarders, the tate modern, the entertainers. Don’t think of the South Bank as somewherre static; there’s always something going on, and if you stop too long you’ll miss what’s up ahead.

The route along the south bank towards the river thames is so amazing. When i walked along there to get to the Tate during the summer coca cola was setting up it’s own art exhibition next to the carousel and there were about 24 separate small pieces of art all featuring coca cola made by various more unknown modern artists. There was also a very large poster being set up which had also been designed by Sir Peter Blake and there were also free postcards featuring the artwork being given away, of which i handed myself a generous helping :p I then continued to walk along the south bank being amused by a variety of street performers and finally watching a spur of the moment free running frenzy from a group of teenagers followed by a skateboarding display! I finally made my way to the Tate, but left shortly after looking forward to the walk back along the South Bank!

This is my favourite place in London… Hope off the tube at London Bridge, explore Borough Market and then mosey along the Thames towards Waterloo. You pass all the big London sights (so its good for all the out-of-towners) including the Globe, St Paul’s, the Tate modern, London Eye and Westminster. Its good in summer as there are parks and benches along the way and its awesome in summer as the street entertainers and the many coffee shops distract from the cold or give you a cosey hidey-hole to recover in. Its always busy and people are always relaxed and the general feel is always of contentment. It’s the perfect day out!

The South Bank is one of the best places to just hang around in London. All along it you have the Royal Festival Hall, The London Eye, The Hayward Gallery, a book market and the Tate Modern, to name but a few places of interest. From it you get a real feeling of being at the heart of London, looking over the Thames at the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, it’s an amazing place to be, especially at night. On new year’s eve it comes alive with a huge celebration and fireworks display.
(My review is referring to the south bank of the river Thames in Central London, not what is illustrated in the map, whatever that is)
