I’m still a stalwart fan of North London over South London but the Soouth Bank is certainly doing its best to swing me the other way. There are so many great things about it that I really can’t go into specifics. My advice to you is to head down and see for yourself.!

South bank is the place to go for free entertainment of the wacky variety. There are some truely talented people in amongst the weirdness but they are all very ingenious ats. On a nice afternoon taking a stroll along South Bank will be well worth it. There are some many random acts you will experience a great variety of emotions. Some are just hilarious whilst others have a real talent that will move you. One of the best free things to do in London.

The South Bank offers a cheap, pleasant way to spend an evening in London. Wandering along the river Thames, you can take in the illuminated sights, relax on numerous benches and watch the various street performers and other random events taking place. Plenty of cafe’s, restaurants, theatres and bars mean there is always somewhere to sit back, relax and enjoy the views.

Every good city should have a chic public hangout, for London this is the Southbank. There is no better place in London to have a cool pint, peruse a gallery and see a theatre production within 1 mile of each other. In addition to this the stunning backdrop of London’s skyline provides an excellent view whilst enjoying the Southbank.

I always love a day at Southbank. With the BFI, an array of cafe’s, my favourite music and DVD shop alongside the London Eye and regular events of all different kinds, Southbank is a must of locals and tourists.

At some times of the year, the South Bank acts as my second home. At the end of March to early April will see the BFI celebrating the annual Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. A perfect way to enjoy the start of spring.

Yes, the South Bank is packed with many famous tourist attractions, including the London Eye, London Aquarium and Dali Universe, but there’s a lot of pleasure to be gained simply by walking around this area. You can always spot a huge range of street performers, some of them quite skilled and unusual, and there is the sight of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament over the River Thames. In the summer, take a picnic and sit in one of the many little parks surrounding this area. Whenever I think of London at night, I always think of the South Bank for some reason, the view from any of the bridges around there is beautiful.

South Bank is my favourite place in London, because of the great mix of things it has to offer. The best Modern Art Gallery anywhere, two of the best theatres in London, the blue lights in the trees, the street performers, festivals, book market. You can’t beat the view of St. Pauls from the balcony at Tate Modern. From Borough Market to the Aquarium, there is something for absolutely every one on the South Bank- I could not wish for more and it’s so easy to get to.

The South Bank is a great place for adults & children alike. It has many attractions besides it’s most famous 'London Eye’. There are art gallerys, theatres, the London Aquarium, a skateboarding area, loads of great eating places & even statues that come to life! There is a mini Trocadero type amusement place which is great for the kids & lots more attractions, great fun day out for all the family :)

Go to this area so much, there is loads to do for all different types of people. My main two reasons for going is for the theatres and to go see my boyfriend and his friends skate at the small area they have for skating/bmxing there. If you are artistic then I’d definately recommend going because theres so much to see, especially if you like graffiti because in the skate bit, there is some really nice graffiti. Great food nearby and a brilliant arcade a little up the road.

This is a must for anyone in London to be able to soak up the atmosphere and the sights. Take A Thames Clipper ride up the Thames or take a walk to Big Ben. So much to do. There is also a lovely aqaurium on the South Bank. There is an EAT, a Wagamama, Giraffe and a Pizza Express should you want to grab a bite. The closest tube stations are Waterloo and Westminster. The London Eye is a must for a spectacular view over London. The Arts Theatre is also on the other side of Waterloo Bridge - always interesting stuff happening there.

I love going to this place when I was still a teenager. There you could see kids playing skateboards and bicycle. It’s nice to see how kids competing with each other in playing healthy sports. There should be more spaces as such to provide kids a place to go and play.

I went there this summer for Wizard of Oz musical and it was my first visit. I was hugely impressed by it’s architecture, location (Thames night view is fantastic), and cultural. One of its venue is the Royal Festival Hall where you could get free musical performances on saturday afternoon. Great place to sit down and have a coffee.

This is such a great place to bring kids - mine are 2 and 4 and love it here - they like to watch the boats, there are always entertainers and buskers along the riverside. There’s a giant carousel there now which seems to be permanent - magical!

There’s a great playground just under the London Eye which is great for some swings and slides - then lots of family friendly places to eat along the Festival Hall. It’s really accessible if you have a buggy - you can walk from Waterloo or go across the bridge from Charing Cross - there are lifts at both ends of the bridge. You can easily spend a whole day here in bliss! Tired kids at the end and happy mums and dads!

I think the most attractive thing about the re-done southbank is the food and restaurants available. People criticise the fact that there are lots of chains but in reality there all good and well-priced and offer extraordinary value. Also, theyre full and can therefore make more money for the festival hall. In terms of the Festival Hall itself I think the range of performances they offer is unparralleled in the UK arts scene. A real highlight was seeing Brian Wilson last summer although it made me feel very old. The re-design of the Southbank as a whole has been a huge success.

Split into three halls, the south bank centre is a London tresure often neglated by tourists as its on the other side of the river. The Royal festival hall is a concert dance and talks venue while Queen Elizabeth hall host jazz, classical and avert garde music evernt and Hayward gallery are currently hosting a photography exhibtion of the theates. All a stones throw away from the london Eye, Dali universe and movie museum as well as the performers out the front its great summers (or winters)day out. At the weekend there is also book market infront of just under waterloo bridge.

Best place to hang out for romance in London. For those who are single - dont be shy as it’s a great place to hang out both during winter / summer. We have been many times for a walk in the evening after work and I must say we fine it better than going to be gym. Recommended.

The South Bank Centre is a really exciting place. I love the arts, and especially anything to do with music so I’m there quite often. The quality of the performances is generally outstanding and tickets are not too expensive. I often find that it is a good idea to go for some of the cheap tickets in the Royal Festival Hall as they are further from the stage but about a quarter of the price of the others and the sound is still great. Food and drink is pretty expensive here, which is always annoying. However the location is very central and you have fantastic views of the river so it is worth it. I particularly recommend the hot stews!

Without doubt one of the jewels in Londons spankly tiara. Take a midnight stroll and enjoy the lights and buskers, or drop in earlier for World Class Theatre at the National followed by supper in Gabriel’s Wharf. Try and get into the BFI for some classic movies, and people watch with a G&T outside. Or peruse the second class book stall before having a jug of Margarita on the Royal Festival Hall balcony (on Wintry days wait inside and enjoy some music for free). Walk home over the Hungerford Bridge and revel in some of the best views in London, or if going East, hop home with a hot new date a la “Truly, Madly, Deeply”.

A great part of London, has everything – galleries, attractions, shopping, food. During summer a great deal of street entertainers around here, book markets even a beach party at the side of the Thames. The Haywood Gallery often has some exciting and vibrant exhibitions – all published on the website, The London Eye is a little further on. There is the Globe Theatre which is worth a visit, Tate Modern – free except for the special exhibitions. We always try to end up at Pizza Express, lovely in summer to sit outside with views of St Pauls across the Millennium Bridge.

A mix of sight sounds and smells. A walk along the southbank can pass many an hour in london. From little panckae houses, to restaurants, jewellers to hot chesnut venders, art gallaries to street entertainers. There is always somethjing open and something going on. Try hiring a bike and riding along the Southbank.

The South Bank is one of those areas that changes every couple of 100 metres. With the walkway that stretches alongside the Thames reaching over 3 miles there is something for everyone. To get a true sense it is best to get off at Vauxhall station and begin your walk there. Soon enough you will have the view of the Houses of Parliament opposite you, which is lit up beautifully at night.

Continue along and you have the Saatchi and Saatchi gallery, the London Eye and the BFI film institute. A particular favourite of mine is the second hand book sale that occurs every Saturday. You are often bound to find a bargain there.

The South Bank has to be one of the most atmospheric places in London. A cheerful cacophony of buskers provides a backdrop to the brilliant book market and street entertainers. The South Bank Centre, meanwhile, offers some fantastic free exhibitions. Along with the range of bars and restaurants in the area it all adds up to a perfect weekend afternoon out.
