Just lunched here today & got in just before the place filled up. If you didn’t know where it was you might miss it as it just looks like a normal shop front. A fairly extensive menu offering a selection of all your Japanese favouirtes. Opted for the nigiri sushi set with salmon sashimi, which comes with miso soup as part of the deal. The sushi was great, a good selection & the miso soup was fresh & piping hot. We also had a side dish of Yakamono, we opted for chicken, skewers grilled served with a tasty sauce. Would recommend it but not the place to go for a romantic candlelit dinner or with a large crowd as it is small & the tables are fairly close together. I believe the Dragon Rolls are a Speciality & the do look impressive! Lunch cost us £28.00 including a couple of soft drinks.

Tiny place, hard to find but worth a trip. I’ve only managed to get a table there once, but had a few takeaways. Great, tasty, fresh.
Brilliant value for money.

Indeed, from the outside it doesn't look much. It doesn't get much better inside; spartan and uncomfortable wooden high chairs with a gibbering television in the background. Peaceful, it isn't.

Food-wise, we ordered Miso soup. This came extra plain. I don't know what they did to it to rob it of flavour. Still, tip in some soya sauce and it didn't taste too bad, and it was quite hot.

Main course was breaded pork on rice. This was truely dreadful - the pork was tough and the breadcrumbs soggy. I strongly suspect they re-microwaved it. Mixed in with this was a fried egg - which bizarrely was not properly cooked.

As for being an "extremely popular restaurant", there was nobody there except us.

This is really one to avoid.

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but looks can be deceiving as this little slice of the East offers fresh and flavorsome sushi that will enlighten your taste buds. Although small inside, the dark wooden tables, bar stools, and Japanese music drumming in the background heighten its lively modern atmosphere. The staff are more than obliging and the food is freshly prepared while you wait. Sushi is the main item on offer but a variety of noodle and rice based dishes are also available. I would recommend the miso soup as a good way to get the ball rolling.

Sushiya is an extremely popular restaurant so you often have to wait for a table over the weekends - but it is well worth it!
