Opened in 1982, Gorgie City Farm is known by several generations of visitors. The farm has become a well established, favourite place to visit for many people in Edinburgh and the Lothians, and for some, we seem to be hidden away, screened from the busy traffic in Gorgie Road.

Great place to take the children as they love it.

I must visit this farm again soon…
I loved visiting the 'black pig’ at this farm as a child , he was always sleeping no matter what time of day we visited!!
This is a great family attraction and as an educational attraction is also popular with schools and nurseries too.
The farm is free and can provide a whole days entertainment. There are all sorts of animals goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses… You can also relax in the pretty garden area with a book or a picnic.
The cafe is very reasonable and there is plenty of choice for kids.
This is my business

The farm, with it's animals and gardens, has always been considered as a place to visit, relax and see what is new, and of course with no admission charge, people can call in for short visits, to have lunch, or just to take some fresh air even on the most dismal winter's day.
We are proud that the farm is all inclusive, open to all, and has something for everyone whatever their background or abilities. It is also surprising to many people to find the wide range of services and activities that can be found in such a small place.
Finally, the farm is here for the community, and it depends on support from many people and in many ways. We receive grants for various projects, donations from individuals and organizations, and we provide services that are paid for by the public, but most of all the farm depends on volunteers, working with animals, in the gardens, in the office, with visitors and on the board of trustees. If you would like to be involved, please come and speak to any member of the farm's staff.

Gorgie City Farm is a brilliant place to take the kids! I’ve taken mine several times and they’re always delighted by it. They have lots of animals, including Bunty the Cow and Rambo the Sheep! It’s a great, free opportunity to take city kids to meet farm animals up close and personal, with some of the animals used to kids petting them. We’ve been in all sorts of weather, and since there is an indoor section it provides relief on a drizzly day. There is a cafe too and I believe they cater for kids parties. The farm is not large, but it’s tucked away behind the busy Gorgie Road, just round the corner from from the Hearts Football Stadium and is an oasis in the midst of madness!

A great place for the whole family to visit - free of charge too! Not quite so happy with the kids party arrangements but otherwise lots to do and see for the little ones - wrap up warm and every eventuality as it’s outdoors!
Very child friendly…....

Gorgie Farm is a lovely place to visit. It’s completely free, which is a big bonus!
It has all the usual farm animals, pigs, cows, goats, horses etc as well as some smaller animals such as rabbits.
There is also a play area with picnic benches.

I love Gorgie City Farm and so do my children!
I have four, aged between 13 years old and 23 months old and they all still enjoy our visits.
The farm is well laid out, has a variety of animals and has a lovely petting area for small animals.
The tractor has always been a firm favourite, as has the newly revamped play park.
You can also buy some veg etc from a small 'stall’ within the farm.

I used to go to this farm at least once a week when i was younger and now go with my own daughter. It is a great farm with a wide variety of animals in a safe setting. The park is also an added feature to allow you to spend more time there. The cafe is great with a wide variety of food priced fairly inexpensively. The pigs here are nice to see as there are many different varieties alongside there variities of plants and birds a good afternoon out for all ages.

Gorgie city farm is easily reached along many bus routes. Donations are encouraged, but not mandatory. It is the perfect visit for anyone with a child under 5. Not only is there the farm and all the excitement that brings, but also a small park, a decommissioned tractor for the little ones to play on, a reasonably priced cafe, a sense garden and the farm shop selling farm grown eggs and veg. Included amongst the animals are ducks, chickens, owls, pheasants, bunnies, guinea pigs, budgies, sheep, cows, goats, horses, two different breeds of pigs and Bunty the cow and her calves. Obviously springtime is the best time to visit, but even on the coldest winter day fun can still be had as long as you dress up warm.

I live along Gorgie road and one of mine and my boyfriends favorite thing to do is to go to the farm! It is a great place with lots of different farm a domestic animals plus a very friendly cat who fell asleep on me! You can stroke the goats, horses, sheep and sometimes can hold the guinea pigs or rabbits if your lucky enough to see a member of staff nearby. It is not just a place to see animals but it also runs alot of classes like for example pottery classes and you can book to have parties there. There is also a small animals boarding place and a fresh produce stall. It is free and a great place to take kids!

Excellent place for kids. Run as a charity and gives children and adults hands on experience with the animals. Staff are extremely friendly and excellent with the kids

My daughter is a helper at Gorgie Farm every fourth Saturday. She absolutely loves it and the workers and brilliant with the kids. Still a popular venue to take young kids and free entry. Coffee shop could offer more variety however and some healthier options maybe? I also wish the council or lottery would donate money to Gorgie Farm and it desperately needs a revamp,.

I used to help out here as a kid during the school holidays and I still love going there even now.
They have everything from rabbits to horses, flower and herb gardens, the animals are well looked after and the staff are great.
Theres a great wee park for the kids and a reasonably priced cafe.
This is a great place to spend a few hours looking at different farm animals at your own pace

This is a lovely little farm, with a great atmosphere and many activities for the kids. With lots of animals like Cows, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry and ponies. Its quite a small farm and children can get really close to the animals, and understand how a real commercial farm works. There's also a small playground with a slide, climbing bridge and seesaw, plus Jemima's Pantry, a friendly cafe, and if the weather's nice, there's a picnic area outside. Each Tuesday at 11.30am and Saturday at 1.30pm, children can cuddle small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs.
The farm also caters for children's birthdays, for older children (8 y.o. & over) there are various weekend and holiday activities available to allow hands-on contact with the animals.
Kids of all ages will love this place (and adults too)
