This is a very nice gym. It is quite large, has new equipment and is fully loaded in terms of how gyms come. The classes are a part of your membership fee, which is nice if you want to try out new ones. There is a nice, spacious locker room each for men and women. The women's locker room (the only one I have been in), has nice large lockers to hang clothes in, numerous showers (I have never had to wait in line for one), areas with blow dryers, lotion and makeup remover. The locker rooms also have a sauna and steam room. There is also a pool and hot tub for general use. Now for the downside, ever since the new year, the gym is overcrowded during peak hours. It makes it hard to workout during certain times. Also, the price is rather steep, but it seems most gyms are rather expensive in Edinburgh. Overall, I would say this is a great gym to use.

This gym was recently taken over by Virgin Active and they have certainly put their stamp all over the place. Recently refurbished it is spacious, dynamic and extremely well equipped. The gym has quite a fast paced feeling to it while the swimming pool and jacuzzi are cool and relaxed and I rarely find the pool to be overly busy. The class timetable is well thought out with lots of classes at varying times of the day so should suit everyone whatever their working hours. They have recently bought new cardiovascular equipment which are much better than the old machines. The locker rooms are spacious and clean and they provide towels, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryers etc. The staff are friendly and you always get a nice greeting when you arrive. It is at the higher end of the price range but you do get a clean, spacious and well equipped gym. Also, I have very rarely had to queue to use a piece of equipment and that is a big plus for me.
