Comment: The industrial museum’s permanent exhibition gives you an idea of the everyday life in the mining industry in Germany’s Ruhr industrial area in the face of change. The way it is presented is very interesting. It is not only made up of wall exhibits, but gets you into the spirit of the industry. For example you can take a look at a colliery washroom, among others. Just about all the buildings are open to the public. The highlight has to be the front tower, which you can also climb up. Next to the museum there is a little shop where you can buy mining mementos such as beautiful bandanas. Cultural events also take place here. The former wage office has been converted for weddings and the restaurant is fully equipped for the reception afterwards.
