Wow, this place has totally transformed from being a mostly-emptyish ‘old mans’ pub to a modern gastropub with excellent food & a wide & varied clientele. The beer garden has been refurbished & is a very pleasant place to spend an afternoon.

The food really is outstanding, using high quality seasonal ingredients & a lot of imagination. The staff are all very good, there is one waitress who is outstanding & quite zany. She makes the whole experience much more enjoyable. It’s now hard to get a table on some evenings so book ahead to avoid disappointment.

One of the best pubs locally,Used to be the duke of sussex and they have just had a refit they have a large beer garden that's for the smokers,inside still has that warm feeling no bright lights here.good food and great chunky chips,staff who have a memory for faces and know how to have a laugh and a joke.Pool tables out the back and tv screens for the footie/rugby.
The sort of pub a girlie can walk in and get a drink without anyone noticing....o and amazing vases of flowers on the bar too.
