love fuel. great veggie food and a fine selection of drinks. brilliant gigs upstairs. a little piece of heaven in withington
Visited Fuel a few weeks ago. They have a large selection of vegetarian food, good prices and we even got to hear a live band. It was a little cramped but would definitely go again.
Fuel is one of my favourite little south manchester haunts.
Although it can get really busy of a weekend the relaxed atmosphere, good soundtrack and community feel never fails to dissapoint.
The food is great; simple but effecitve veggi fayre and very decent portions for the price.
The upstairs room plays host to any number of music, art and craft events and should you ever happen to be passing through on your way to the toilets even when there's not an official event on you're likely to stumble upon some bizzare happening or another.
The Tuesday night quiz hosted by Manchester's very own answer to Stephen Fry is definitely a highlight of the week if you can get a seat!
The Oreo milkshake with fresh strawberry is also a taste to behold.
Fuel is brilliant, mostly because it sells BADGER BEER! Which is the finest beer in the world. Also they have nice gigs on upstairs and good vegetarian food.
I lived over the road from here for two years and I always took my friends there for lunch. Relaxed atmosphere, good music, friendly staff and most nights there's good live music upstairs. I'm not a vegetarian either but the food was great.
Keep it up!
Fuel is a cracking little space - a space to eat and drink and generally be very merry.
In the day, it's decent little cafe. The food is generally pretty good (it has been patchy on occasion, but for the most part, good). The breakfast is always good value.
At night, you can still get decent food but effectively, it turns into a place to drink booze in. They've got a good selection of bottled ales (Badger and one that tastes like banana bread).
As well as beer, there's quiz nights, DJs and gigs upstairs, generally focusing on acoustic and folk music... which is just as well as the floor isn't too thick.
I'd give Fuel more stars, but there's an unquantifiable thing that's lacking. I always enjoy my visits there, but never really rave about it to anyone.
Fuel is amazing! Where else can you soak up a fantastic soundtrack while drinking Badger beers and eating gorgeous veggie burritos?! It’s a great place to come for a nice brew or a hot Vimto in the daytime too.
Fuel is much more than a vegetarian café though. It also puts on some ace live music, comedy and club nights – mostly free! I’ve put a few events on here in the past, and I’d definitely recommend it as a venue to other promoters. The staff are really supportive, friendly and helpful, and there’s always a great atmosphere.
Great little place with good food & a nice chilled atmosphere.
fuel cafe bar is an exciting place for young souls its a thrriving cafe bar frequented by college students and young professionals.its an interesting place to meet people and just lay back watching the world go by. the staff are friendly and helpful, the menu is short but tantalising. i would definitely recommend this place to everybody , for a good cup of coffee or a nice refreshing drink
Fuel is on the main street through Withington village and is well worth a visit whether you are after the food, the drinks or the live music. The upstairs room for live music is intimate but if you’re going to see an unknown band then its a cosy and comfortable venue. It is a vegetarian establishment but its good for a quick snack or to catch up with friends. Fuel is a small venue, but one with a really nice atmosphere to it. It is slightly arty and quirky without being too weird.
A basic but deliciously good menu - especially the chilli enchilada - and very friendly service. Lots of lovely art pieces to look at whilst you are munching. It gets full but management dont pressure you to order more or leave. Ive not attended any music gigs there.
Veggie cafe, bar and sometimes a music venue. Food is good, good for breakfasts, great for veggies. Casual, laid back atmosphere, popular with students. Think there’s a PC you can pay to access the internet with too, only one, mind.
Fuel is a vegetarian café on Withington high street. It’s a small and cosy bar and café that serves good vegetarian food. I’m not a vegetarian but still enjoy their food in particular the smoothies and Oreo milkshakes are nice. The inside of the bar is cool and very relaxed. The upstairs room sometimes has live music and is also available to rent out for private parties. As it is only small and nice there can be a wait for a table particularly at the weekends, but its worth the wait.
Fuel serves up great vegetarian food, from breakfast (which lasts until 4!) through to dinner. As a meat-eater, that’s not usually my thing, but the food is so good that it’s worth it. The selection of drinks is also impressive, with a great number of beers as well as non-alcoholic drinks like smoothies and milkshakes. The service is generally friendly, although the presence of a couple of guys sitting outside can be a bit offputting. Upstairs there are various nights put on, of which I’d definitely recommend the open mic. Overall, a top alternative bar for Withington.
great boooze, great people. and i absolutely loved it!!!!!
Fuel is good for me who does not drink as they serve a cuppa at night time too. ( after 8 pm!). They have massive collection of teas so quite hard to choose one. I like thier live music events which held upstairs. Pretty much cool place in Manchester!
Some could call me a bit of a salad and veg dodger (that’s not to say I’m chubby though), but whilst flat hunting in Withington, I came across Fuel. Not knowing that it was strictly vegetarian at first, I was enticed in by the delicious smells and promptly ordered about 5 dishes. This wasn’t because I’m greedy, more because I didn’t expect the portions to be so huge (they were) and because the dishes were very inexpensive. The food was fantastic, and I left with a general sense of wellbeing, like I’d consumed something healthy without much effort. The staff, too, were great and the clients were an eclectic bunch of young and old.
This great little place has a very similar vibe to Trof - live music, good food and just a friendly atmosphere and is an example of what we need more of in Manchester. It is full of character and relatively inexpensive. You get a good deal.
Fuel in Withington is an excellent veggie bar and restaurant. I can’t emphasise enough how nice the food is. Oh, what’s that? You don’t like cheese? Okay, this is awkward…you probably will not like much of the food on offer at Fuel. Everything comes with cheese in one form or another. Wait a minute, you really don’t like cheese? Again, this is awkward now because I’m not sure I can get down with someone who doesn’t at least enjoy cheese on occasion. Fuel? Go there if you are normal and like cheese. Freaky cheese haters may want to stay away.
Fuel is a neat little vegetarian cafe/restaurant in Withington. I’m not actually a veggie (quite the opposite!) but took a friend here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. There’s a great range of food, and even the most hard-core red meat eater will find it hard to complain with the delicious range of veggie salads, pastas, burgers, sandwiches and wraps on offer.
It’s a funky little place full of cool people, with a chilled out atmosphere and a load of artsy posters/notices on display if you’re looking for a new exhibition/band to see.
