This place is excellent. I've never been when its not been jam packed full of kids and adults alike running about playing games and just having a blast.
The walks through the park are great, very peaceful and tranquil and then you come to the adventure play park where everybody's little kid inside them just wants to burst out and go play.
Its great, kids, parents, aunts, uncles and even grandparents all joining in running around playing.
Whenever you need a rest or the kids get hungry there’s a small cafe, which is reasonably priced, or you can have a picnic in the beautiful surroundings.
I must agree this is a brilliant day out for all the family

I have to agree with the previous reviewer in saying that Dalkeith Country Park is a truly magical place!

When I was a child my Dad used to bring me here so I could play on the flying fox and the rope bridges. I would pester him incessantly to bring me and, every time he did, I had the time of my life. It's great to see that twenty years later it is still as popular as ever!

The great thing about this park is that it is set inside the grounds of Dalkeith House which was built in the 18th century. As a result, the park is a combination of careful planning and natural development. Wildlife is all around and it's not rare to see squirrels, foxes and even, on the odd occasion, deer!

You can have a great day out walking around the park and can even have a picnic on the lovely wooden tables and benches.

My only criticism is that, for most people who live in Edinburgh, the park is a little out of the way! However, that is why it is such a beautiful place so the travelling is worth it!

You do have to pay to enter, but it's very reasonable and worth it to ensure that the area is looked after!

I love this place and just had to tell you all about it.

I bring my children here for the amazing adventure play park. This is a place you need to see to believe. Its a wonderful and magical place. Kids will have hours of fun on the hugh adventure slides that go so high up into the clouds and the huge wooden fortresses high above the ground with a giant slide leading back down, tyre swings, wooden rope bridges, flying foxes and more. And best of all its not just for kids...Adults can go on all the things too.

There are picnic tables and barbecue sites and a cafe selling sandwiches and snacks. The walks are gorgeous. There are usually goats and chickens wandering about the courtyard near the cafe and ride on tractors to play on. You can make a day of it here especially when the sunshines. If you are visiting with a large group you can book barbecue and picnic sites which make an idealplace for a sunny day out.
