It is a vulcanic lake, the only one of this kind on the territory of Romania. Not just the lake and its sorroundings are breathtaking, but the road as well until you get there. Its water is really clean and cold usually. Local people say that if you are capable, brave enough to swim into it when its water is really cold than it is like a confession, you will wash down your sins. It is also considered a sacred place. There is one little chapel near the lakeside. People from all over the world come there, make wishes, throw coins into the water or through the gates of the chapel.
