Thank you for the wonderful haircut, I look the way I like now. Friendly staff. Happy that I found you
Great staff, I am more than happy with my new haircut! I feel and look fabulous!
Despite arriving late on a Saturday, the staff at Rose and Crown were very friendly and managed to squeeze me an appointment at 17.00. However, I would still recommend booking: It seems a popular salon so I was lucky on a Saturday I guess!
I had my haircut by Veronica (I think this was her name). She was friendly, listened to my requests and had a cute kiwi accent. :) I was VERY happy with my haircut, especially as I was in desperate need with an event the following day. If I am in the area again, I would definitely go back.
Going in I had a concept of how I want to look. Going out I had a beautiful hair done. Thank you ladies I feel superb!!
I walked into the Rose and Crown recently for a wash, cut and blow dry, I had no appointment. I found the staff really friendly and attentive, but the attention my hair got was something else.
The hair wash was really good, but the cut I got from Rick was exactly as I wanted…normally in a hairdresser I never really get what I want. Bur Rick was very good at explaining exactly the kind of hair I have and how the cut would match with my hair type. He took his time to get it exactly perfect. I am very impressed, and don’t think I have found a hairdresser as good before. I’ ll be back. Thanks very much Rick.
I have been going to the Salon for about a year now. In that year I have had 3 different stylists cut my hair, and all of whom did a great job. This reflects the quality that you get here and the kind of people Rick (the owbner) wants to cut your hair and ensure a top job is done everytime. It has a very friendly, warm atmosphere and I always enjoy the time I spend there. For the quality of cut, the price is excellent, easily out shining those salons local to Rose and Crown. I actually came from a nearby salon where the prices were no-where-near a decent reflection of the final product. Im very glad I came across the Rose and Crown and I’ve no doubt you will too.
Keep up the good work!
Daniel.
I have had my hair cut by Rick of the Rose and Crown for over 10 years now. I used to visit him in his previous premises in Shaftesbury Avenue and still use him even though I moved to Sussex 5 years ago and don’t commute to London.
In short, he is a real hairdresser/barber with great understanding and skill, and whether he works form a basement or a glossy ‘up west’ salon its the skill of the guy with the scissors I go for. My recent visit last week was as ever frienly, professional, relaxing and to the point – a great haircut.
A real professional outfit in the centre of town – I highly recommend it!

A haircut at the Rose and Crown is an experience always to treasure and a total pleasure...The atmosphere is relaxing, the welcome calm and the chat and listening skills a dream.....and those are for free ...They go hand in hand with the best cut in town......and those are the words of a woman who did have a total haicut phobia . I am now a total Rose and Crown convert and have never left the salon without feeling rejuvinated...I have followed Rick faithfully from his previous salon to his new venue and have not ventured elsewhere for 9 years...I recommend everyone has a Rose and Crown overhall...you'lll wish you had done it years ago....alethea
thank you! The best haircut and colour I have had in a long time! It is now 4 weeks since I had my hair cut and I still love it. The hairdresser was attentive and listened to what I wanted and delivered the goods! I will definitely be back.
Thanks
Anne
£45 to look like a man! So glad I managed to find a good hat
I went on the basis of the 5* reviews but it just wasn't anywhere near a 5 star place. I arrived to this TINY room and wasn't offered a drink, I had wax in my hair but he didn't wash my hair first- I pointed this out and he insisted it would be fine. He was a good guy, chatty, etc: what you'd expect from a hairdresser. The cut itself was ok, nothing special- a bit uneven in places as I found out later. However at £30 it was definitely on the cheaper side of London haircuts.
I guess your rating of a place depends what you're used to and in my case this is a 2* and nothing more. I usually pay £35-45 and for that I get offered a water/coffee/beer, get my hair washed properly then rinsed, and get a decent product put in it to finish. None of that from the Rose and Crown. If you're used to a barber shop then maybe, just maybe, this is 4*. I'm highly skeptical of the authenticity of the reviews here or if I'm wrong then the other reviewers haven't been to a decent salon before.
Daniel_McGing It might not be that other visitors havent been to a “decent” salon before. It may be simply you got a stylist who wasnt quite up to “your standards”. Still, you dont know until you try right? All I know is paying twice the amount in another salon located 2 minutes away and getting no where near the quality of cut is a no brainer, and being in there for 3 times as long for the same cut and the only difference being that you get constantly pestured and made to wiat around for ages while the sylist jumps between you and another customer isnt what I want, but again, personal preference.

I went here for the first time today as I work nearby. I had a lovely stylist who made sure to find out exactly what I was after, and totally delivered. Definitely a personal service, lovely stylists and a beer to boot :-)
Having let my hair get into a state of neglected disrepair after a series of disappointing haircuts in a number of different places in london, (i am ashamed to say i even got to the point of allowing (out of sheer exasperation) my non hairdresser friend to trim my outgrown fringe because i was so fed up of being ripped off and receiving sub standard haircuts for the privilege) I went along to Rose and Crown. Got my hair cut by Rick, really friendly, honest and helpful. I'm now the proud owner of probably the most flattering (graduated bob) haircut i think i've ever had. Will definitely be going back :)
Rose and Crown Hairdressing are in the centre of Covent Garden. I went for a hair cut and i was very pleased with the results. As a man with quite curly hair it is difficult to find a hairdresser you are confidant with. But i had a good hair cut with Rick, very pleased with the results!. A nice and friendly salon. I shall be going back for my next hair cut.
Rick has been looking after my hair since I established myself as an osteopath in Covent Garden in 2007. It is hard to put a finger on how his salon creates such a cool, friendly atmosphere. I've discovered that investing in a few good cuts proves economical in the long run because the hair falls better and you need fewer visits. Even the styling products Rick sells are the best I've found, and they aren't expensive either! Phil

My friend Cate took me here yesterday as I need a hairdresser when I move back to London. She has been visiting her stylist and colourist here, Maija, for five years. Cate is a manager at a major record company, so needs to look good.
Didn't have an appointment but Rick fitted me in as his last client of the day. Good sharp haircut priced at £30 and we had a lot in common with interests in travel and the vintage scene. We even went for a beer while I waited for Cate to finish. Good busy salon and convenient location. Excellent!
Rick's been doing my hair since I was 20-something and I'm now 40-something, still going strong! He's always given me a really sharp hair cut and I'm rarely, if ever, not happy with the result.
Hubby Paul's had his hair cut by Rick all over London, he's followed him from Kensington Market, to the Garage on the Kings Road, then to Shaftesbury Avenue and now Covent Garden! No one else manages to give him a flat top so Rick, bad luck, you'll be doing us in our zimmer frames in another 20 years' time!!
I went to Rose and Crown for the first time today after reading so many good reviews. Thank you Hamish so so much. The highlights, cut and blowdry are FANTASTIC and people have been complimenting me all day on my hair. I will certainly go back again.
Been going to the salon for a few years for myself and took the kids along this time. I cheekily asked if they could fit them in whilst I was having a cut and colour and we ended up with all 3 of us having our hair done with Rick and his staff fitting them in around their existing bookings. The result was 3 very happy customers.
The prices are soooo reasonable for central London and the location means you can go out with a fab new do and be right in the centre of things within seconds.
Would highly recommend.
I wish there was an option for a zero rating or below. I would strongly recommend not visiting this salon. Its quite difficult to write a bad review on here, I feel like a crazy person given all the melodrama above.
I went for a cut. The hairwashing was very rough and not enjoyable. I wasn't happy with the cut at all. The hairdresser left random long bits in my fringe and in other places cut some strands just above my ear too short so that they fall down in a stupid way when I put my hair up. I just wanted a trim.
I went back a couple of days later to ask them to tidy my fringe and tell them I wasn't that happy. There was no kind of appology and when I questioned why it cost me £45 instead of the £40 advertised on the site, again the hairdresser just made excuses about having changed the prices and not updated the website. I think this level of service is disgusting and the salon clearly doesn't value their clients. I hasten to add that I didn't go in there screaming and ranting, which is probably why they didn't care.
I agree with jkr the salon is small and in need of updating. There doesn't seem to be a till so you can't pay with card and they don't give receipts.
Rick, you may be a lovely guy, but you should have a think about who you employ or give your staff some training.
Needless to say, I won't be going back
