Hammersmith has long been an established centre for the Polish community based in London. This is a really big centre and offers members and non members a huge vareity of facilities ranging from dances, plays, cabarets and polish cinema. There is a library service and a really high quality restaurant as well.

You don’t have to be Polish to visit here as you might think, and the surprising thing about this place for me was the cafÈ and restaurant hidden inside near the back of the building.(The front of the building is a bit decieving) The cafe has great food with dinners for under five pounds, the pork meatballs in mushroom sauce is nice and are served with salad and potato included in the price.

The sweets are delicious too. The atmosphere is relaxed. Upstairs, there is a bar and the restaurant is a bit more formal with traditional Polish music, it is still a relaxed feel though. The chicken liver pate garnished with apples was recommended to me as a starter and even though I am not keen on pate this one I will eat again. Also good is the fried trout with almonds.
