The Old Firehouse is just about a minutes walk from the town centre and has a nice relaxed atmosphere. They serve Pizza’s until very late and always have a few good wine offers.

Firehouse is simply brilliant. used to go a couple of times a week while at university. Really good place to sit and chat etc. And more importantly its £5 for a bottle of wine and £6 for a massive pizza. It gets really busy on a friday night though.

The Firehouse and I have only just met, and I think I’m in love already. Its dark and has candles, its a bit like a warren but theres always a seat somewhere. The red wine selection is probably the best of all bars in town. I’m not sure you’ll ever be able to find your way out again though, let alone find the loos. Get there before someone tells everyone.

The Old Firehouse is an institution in Exeter, and its dark and cosy interior welcomes you in for an evening of cheap but decent homecooked food and a wide selection of reasonably priced drinks.

The food tends to be carbohydrate friendly, comfort food, but it's just the thing for soaking up all that beer. Vegetarians are well catered for here as well as more carniverous types.

On the drink front, there is an expansive selection of wines, some priced around a fiver for a bottle, which is unheard of in a pub, although some mornings I have rather regretted how temptingly cheap the wine is... Cider, bitter and beer drinkers will be happy here with some brands on tap as well as a fridge full of bottled varieties.

It's always packed in the evenings, and especially so when there is a live band on. With three candle lit floors of seating you have a good chance of getting a table with your friends but don't leave it too late. It's open for drinks and meals in the daytime, when it's much quieter, but the fast service means you can pop in for a work lunch within an hour.

All in all, a student friendly, lively venue wihich must be in the top three in Exeter.
