A great place to chill with your friends, enjoy some great nibbles and watch sport on the big screens.

Awesome underground bar. Great location and decor. Beer selection is good too, and jukebox has decent selection too. Ropey toilets are the only grumble, which is a bit ironic!

This is the smallest bar in manchester yet because of that the atmosphere is fantastic, the interior could almost be classed as bohemian and it’s a fab place to relax with a friend!

Strange little pub in an old toilet. But thats the beauty of the place. HAS MORE CHARACTER THAN MOST.

definetly worth a visit if you can get a seat, smallest pub in the world but cool for a few drinks, always friendly staff and one of the best juke boxes in any pub

It’s rare to find a bar with real character anywhere these days, but The Temple has got it in spades. It’s located in an old gents toilet (the entrance is in the middle of a road!), its cramped, the chairs are worn, the toilets have a large collection of graffiti and somewhat risqué magazine photos, but don’t let any of that put you off, this place is bloody brilliant!
They have a jukebox playing only the choicest cuts of rock, punk and indie (6 songs for a pound!) and a fine selection of beers and spirits at decent prices. It has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, it’s so easy to chill out in there for hours and then it’d be night time when you came out!
I would recommend getting there early though if you want to get a seat, it doesn’t take a lot of people to fill it!
Highly recommended!

The Temple’s great. Victorian pub loo converted into a quirky little underground bar with lots of character and a friendly jovial atmosphere. Does get busy quickly and can become a little claustrophobic while others might word it as intimate. Staff are great and drinks are well priced.

The Temple (formerly the Temple of Convenience) is a Manchester gem not the word one would use for a converted public toilet. This also has to be one of the smallest bars in Manchester but what this bar lacks in size makes up with character, a vast selection of imported booze and impressive jukebox packed with mostly Manchester bands.
The Temple also boasts of a great crowd absolute heaven for any music enthusiast as you’ll be rubbing shoulders with upcoming bands Manchester has to offer. Its best to visit the Temple before 5 pm because it gets proper packed with “9-5” office workers after 5pm.

Salubrious looking gin den, stealthily unannounced mere feet from Oxford Street. This used to be a pubic lavatory, although to my romantic cheese box it resembles an metro station in the Montmartre district of Paris.
Famed for it’s selection of bottled beers (the temple not the Parisian underground stop) the Temple is not entirely unlike a bijou Haribo factory for bearded kidults.
I often find myself emptying the contents of a Brooklyn beer down my 'Ruud Gullit’, other times beers from Kenya and other far flung continents.
It contains one of the best juke boxes in the city, whilst keeping the most unkempt (though very rock n roll) 'en suite bathrooms. Tough to get one of the few, candle lit tables but standing can be fun can’t it?
Fantastically knowledgeable bar staff and you might occasionally bump your cherry beer into one or two members of the new wave of Manchester popbandits.
A couple of years ago before this place became sourced via the bar radar (bardar?) a couple of us scooped a generous lock in with a few free beers in to boot…it’s mightily busier now but still a charming venue.

Few beverages on draft but a very well stocked fridge of bottled beers. Great juke box that could do with being a little louder. Nice intimate atmosphere.

The Temple is the smallest bar in Manchester and probably one of the best. It was converted from a public toilet and has been thriving as one of the coolest bars in Manchester for years. The interior is dark, cosy and chic but it is worth a visit just for the classic alternative/folksy music they play. The bar is small and the staff are friendly. I would recommend The Temple as a perfect pre-club venue as the night club the Music Box is directly opposite.
