MASA located in a drab surbuban precint of Harrow is quite amazing when you first walk into it. Inside below in the basement it has a big chandelier, shiny tiled flooring, heavy wooden furniture, satellite television and a scatter cushion area for the taking of tea.
The food they serve is really fabulous-almost a combination of mixed marriage between the best of the Middle-East and Pakistani cuisines. There is a large variety of Balkan salads, fluffy rice and hot breads to choose from. For an unusual and different taste go I chose the Mantoo Pasta dumplings filled with minced lamb and sweetly flavoured onions done in a Lamb and split-pea sauce; or go for a tangy dish like Bourani-e-Afghani(a tangy Moussaka like dish made from Aubergines with Tomato sauce. These were accompanied by side dishes of Chick-Peas and new Potatoes in a minty relish. To finish of the meal we had some really good coffee and desserts like ice-cream,Bakalava or Feerni( a smooth rose-water scented pudding). The service was attentive yet distant all delivered by waiters slinkly dressed in black.
