Nordic Bakery

I have been to this place lots of times in the past, but kind of stop visiting after I moved. Yesterday I decided to visit the area just to try their amazing pastries again. Unfortunately the service was nothing like before. Staff were really rude and seemed like they were not in the mood to serve any one. Never the less the food was just as good, the quality hasn't dropped at all.

Love the cinnamon buns and lattes. 

The service was so rude and abrupt that it left me wanting to crawl into a hole and die of shame. 

Excellent cinnamon rolls and filter coffee and beautiful decor though. 

Nice cafe that offers different buns and croissants. They all taste good and are always served with smile. This is where I stop almost everyday before I go to work. I take something to eat and drink and then head up to the office.

I like a lot Nordic Bakery! Their cinnamon buns bring me back in my childhood. They have this classic taste of something you know very well and still you'll enjoy them even if you eat them every day.
Coffee is also great! Goes perfect  with every kind of buns and your breakfast in the busy mornings is done. Recommend!

Nordic Bakery in Soho is a nice place at a great location at Golden Square. The ceiling is high and the windowfront makes this a light place. The interior is mainly made from dark wood, the blue walls might make you feel a bit cold, but I really like it. When I was there, there was only one woman behind the counter and I had to wait a little bit. I also wouldn’t state that the espresso here is the best espresso in London, but it is okay. I definitely have to come back to try the cinnamon buns, they looked delicious…

Oh, what a lovely place! I love their both sweet and savoury food, coffee is of a good quality as well. The ambience is typically Nordic – minimalistic, but clean and stylish! Will definitely come back here to taste more:)

I want to be clear. I love the Nordic Bakery, both here and in their newer Marylebone location. The food is always good. But … why are the Soho staff generally so miserable? They’re usually polite, but cold. They need to be reminded that just because they’ve got Nordic in their name it doesn’t mean they have to give frosty service.

The Nordic Bakery is such a little gem in the rubble of chainy cafes around Carnaby street. By the looks of things, I have probably been lucky that I every time I have gone there, it hasn't been too busy, so I have been able to get a table with no problem. The aesthetic of the place is suitably minimalist and functional with blocks of colour for the furniture and really chunky mugs for the coffee, which I love.
My friend is obsessed with the Nordic Bakery's cinammon rolls but I personally prefer their open rye bread sandwiches - especially the ones with smoked salmon.
The whole place has a really chilled out vibe - I'd heartily recommend it.

I'd been really looking forward to go to Nordic Bakery. The cinnamon buns are served warm and are actually delicious. I had it with a hot chocolate, which was nice as well. My boyfriend was eager to try their sandwiches, although they were very good, the portion size is very small so he ended up having 3! So no real value for money there at £4 a pop. He also had a very nice blueberry juice but at £5,90 per approx 330cm3 bottle, we though it was a little overpriced. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the furniture and decor are nice, though the staff are very grumpy and not very welcoming at all, tough I'd go back for the cinnamon buns ;)

I remember coming here when Nordic Bakery first opened and kept coming here over and over. However, the cinnamon buns kept getting smaller and the number of people kept increasing until it was just impossible to get a table. I decided to stop by today and to my surprise (and delight) the place was almost empty on a Sunday and the cinnamon bun was suddenly much larger again.

It is located by Golden Square, so close to Regent Street it is remarkably quiet here, but the place can get packed quite quickly so be prepared that there might not be a table.

The interior is quite Scandinavian with a lot of wooden furniture and overall quite minimalistic. Coffee is quite good and there are plenty of cakes to be had, some typical Scandinavian things to eat such as cinnamon buns and Finnish pierogi served with egg butter.

Breakfast here means only one thing for me, the cinnamon bun or korvapuusti as it's known to the sugar hungry Finns. Each Nordic nation has a variant. 'Designed in Finland, made in London' states the menu. Presumably made in London because it would cost too much to ship the gigantic yeast dough rolls, laden with a moreish toothsticking sugar cinnamon syrup, from their native Finland. One of these and you're clear past lunch, two of these and you'd be clinically dead. Warmed and served with a short latte it's the perfect breakfast pick me up, thick, chewy and moreish - but almost more than this correspondent could cope with. Only a few steps away from the beautious Portuguese pastel de nata served at nearby Fernandez and Wells but a continent away in style. Both serve great coffee and a sugared breakfast treat in their own, culturally diverse way and one of the joys of Soho is that you can sample both on a regular basis. Just woe betide your waistline...

Great little place if you're looking for a bit of peace from the busy regent street.

Decor is minimalist and clean, a bit dark to my taste, but it works out well.

If you want to recharge your laptop of work a bit, the table in the back has a power socket.

One of the best places in Soho without a doubt. Look out for the Scandy style open sandwiches, lots of pickled herring and the like.

The killer is the cinnamon swirls, enough to feed four people at least. Also, the wild blueberry juice.

It used to be a little off the most beaten tracks on Golden Square, but pretty well discovered now and you can struggle to get a table.

A really lovely cafe in Soho's Golden Square. The decor is simple yet chic, with a rustic charm emanating from the wooden panels that line the cafe walls.

The place was heaving with customers as we entered, with not a single table vacant. Waiting customers sat on the wooden bench across the counter and I had a feeling we would have a lengthy wait. But within five minutes tables were cleared and we quickly claimed ours as more customers stumbled in.

As the cinnamon rolls had been highly praised and recommended by reviewers, my friend and I decided to share one. And it was perfect. Sticky, cinnamon rich and still warm. I ordered a filter coffee (at £2.00) which was good but not amazing and tad expensive for its size.

A lovely place to spend an afternoon catching up with a friend and eating tasty treats. Next time I'd like to try one of their open sandwiches.

Good coffee, great cinnamon rolls and sandwiches made with hunger busting dark rye bread ... these are a few of my favourite things, and then I don't feel so bad .....

What we love almost more than all of this is the simplicity and calming effect the decor and the staff will have on any overstressed Oxford street shopper or City worker.

Long may the Nordic Bakery flourish in this little neck of Soho's woods. A welcome refuge indeed.

Amazing cinnamon buns, and rather huge too (good for sharing), all for £2. Its a well hidden cafe off the tourist beaten path in the area, and hence very tranquil and peaceful, good for a catch up chat with a friend.

They also serve lots of Nordic sandwiches, as well as Karelian Pie.

I have heard several times about the Nordic Bakery so, one day when I was showing the city to some friends that come to visit me, I decided to take them to have a coffee there.
The decoration is very Scandinavian, minimalistic and with wood floors and furniture.
They serve some open sandwiches and also some pastries. Every one of us had a cappuccino and a cinnamon roll and I have to say that the cinnamon rolls were very good, exactly as the ones that I had in Sweden some years ago.
They also have a small corner of the cafe with some typical Nordic product for sale.
Nice place to stop and have a coffee.

Why wasn’t this place invented when I still worked in Soho?! What a great addition to Golden Square - Starbucks beware …
Went for the first time the other day, actually for a relaxed business chat. We were a larger crowd and grateful for the great big table in the centre of the cafe.
I soon regretted having opted for a cappucino out of habit. They prepare individual portions of proper filter coffee here, and the cakes just looked spectacular - real food envy stuff.
I like the fact they bring your order to your table on little trays, everything is just sooo tasteful and tasty here. And noone complained that we occupied our table for more than an hour.
I don’t think I have ever been surrounded by so many Scandinavians outsdie Denmark or Sweden - couldn’t ask for a better endorsement.
Can’t wait for the next excuse to visit this place.
