Situated right in the west end, on Great Titchfield Street, off Oxford Street, Maude's Yoga studio is a fab place to do yoga classes, maximum class size of twelve ensures personal attention. The shop also hosts pilates, meditation and new, burlesque classes for the more adventurous; it sure beats pole dancing! The space is light and clean and refreshments are available. The eco boutique sells one off vintage dresses, lots of net and chiffon.

I'm not a huge fan of gyms, especially these commercial ones. However, I think David Lloyds at Raynes Park is actually very unusual - the staff are always helpful and friendly, nothing is ever too big or small for them.

The personal trainers are great, and really listen to you and actively encourage you to continue you with your programme.

Facilities are first-rate, from the pools (two - 1 indoor, 1 outdoor - heated) to the tennis courts (12 internal, 9 outdoor). Changing rooms are always spotless and they have a specific family changing area with the most enormous showers for the whole family to scrub clean in. They also have excellent creche facilities which I haven't used personally but have heard nothing but good things about.

They have a large bar and restaurant area, serving hot food throughout the day with a specific area set down into a little dip which is for the little ones.

The membership team are really helpful too and surprisingly, don't try to sell you the highest-fee membership package if it isn't any good for you. They also have tennis coaches and swim coaches on hand, obviously for additional fees.

They have a hairdressers and sports shop, as well as a little shop which sells a range of oddments and papers etc.

The studios are in excellent shape and spotlessly clean, with a good range of classes being held from across the spectrum - including a Pilates course for beginners (for an extra nominal fee). They also have weight management classes ... oh goodness, and so much more.

I'm not a huge fan of the gym so don't often step foot into there ... but the PowerPlates are amazing. I think I counted 6 of them, but I could be wrong - you can also do a PowerPlate class now, that must be funny to watch!
