I’ve eaten in the ground floor cafe area during the day on a few occasions. The BEST vegetarian breakfast in Bristol in my opinion!

Good but not great food. The building is lovely though, service is good and the cocktails yummy!

Went here for a quick drink on a mini pub crawl. Ended up going upstairs which has many different rooms and hidden away areas. It’s a very good place to go for a quick drink, but I can’t comment on the food. Also, as we were there early evening we benefited from the very cheap cocktail offer!

I liked this place, I’ve eaten on the ground bar level where the food was appropriately priced, service was good and the setting ideal particularly for people watching….excellent place to start off with food and a couple drinks between close friends and maybe even a date….

Found this place by mistake and what a mistake it was,its farly expensive that I dont mind if the ambience of the place justifies it.It does,nt
The food was decidedly average and not very hot,the sort of people in there are not the sort you would want in a lifeboat all a bit up them selves including the waiters.
Did,nt feel at all relaxed in there and the steak was very dissappointing
The champers was not chilled enough and it was really difficult to make oneself heard with all that prattle going on.
If you have money to waste, you will definately waste it here

Early dinner in the cafe. Friendly and attentive staff. Very nice atmosphere. Good food and well priced. Have been here many times and always feel comfortable. Recommended.

Nice atmosphere, good service
But
That steak you are selling as aged 28days is no way that matured
Don't try steak!
Hard as rubber, dry as sand.

My wife and I went a couple of weeks ago, for the first time in a long time. We had been loucky enough to have been bought a voucher by a work contact that totalled £150 (much less than the value of the favour originally bestowed but nice nonetheless)
As a result we indulged in pretty much everything we could without worrying about the bill. Champagne aperitifs, 3 courses from the menu, nice bottle of wine, coffees and liqueurs. The bill came to £148.50 including service.
It might sound a lot, but compared to a similar quality place in London or another European city, we felt it was a real bargain!
So its still our favourite place to eat in Bristol, even with all of the new competition. Voucher £150, amount used £148.50, rare dinner on sat night with my wife not worrying about the bill, but enjoying my company? Priceless!! Ha ha.

Rare excellence outside of London. Food is first rate, great menu and dishes – so pleased to see some classics like the Steak Tartare and Wellington Lamb (just as my mother cooks it!). I am so pleased that I found this place and will be spending a lot of time here now that I have bought a house just up the road. What a venue!!!!

I have to say that i have read the other reviews and have been to Goldbrick House many time really feel that it is unrivalled in Bristol. The food has changed I think and for the better – the value is amazing and the food is simply delicious. My wife had the salmon starter and I had the slightly adventurous steak tartare which was absolutely stunning. Our mains were piping hot (as they have been every time we have been) and desserts to die for!!!!! All I can say is that whoever reads this review will get a better picture of how amazing I think Goldbrick House is as I have not had a bad meal / experience to date!!! BRILLIANT>>!

This is certainly a destination restaurant but I agree with other reviewers that it's more about the 'experience' than the food. There is definitely a great atmosphere and front of house is fiendly and professional. The cocktail bar is taking 'shabby chic' a little too far and could do with refreshing but the cocktails were great.
Sadly the food didn't live up to the billing. My first course had undercooked pasta (yuk) and nothing was very inspiring. I had a fairly heated discussion with the waiter about the cheese board which was poor and to be fair they didn't charge for it. Whilst I wouldn't say the prices were extravagant I wouldn't call my mean value for money either.

I have to tell everyone about my new favourite place. Discovering Goldbrick by chance I am sooo happy I did.
On saturday the girls and I went in for delicious cocktails and then through to the restaurant. Fabulous specials if you fancy paying a little more but there is plenty from the menu to please eveyone. My best friend jo is a veggie and she always has difficulty but with three veggie options she was spoilt for choice. I was so happy she enjoyed herself. The turbot was perfect and the waiter helped us choose some wine which was perfect also. Relaxed atmosphere with funky background music we all had such a great time I feel guilty not sharing with everyone else.
We love you goldbrick!!!!

Positively the best venue in Bristol oozing class effortlessly. I love cocktails and believe this place provides, as a old bar tender myself always good to see double straining. Entertaining a ladyfriend I used the restaurant and had a fabulous time. The hilltop semillion was awesome with my moules marinere.
Definitely logged the number on the i phone.

Have to disagree there boys. Was in GBH thursday and had a fantastic night. New chef seems to have made a big difference. Started with the best cocktails in town - God knows how you can say these guys dont know what they're doing - and brilliant meal. really like the vibe - classy and totally unpretentious, laid back. The food might not quite match the prices but you're paying for one of the best designed and thought out places in Bristol. Best night out I've had in ages.

Have to admit to being fairly unimpressed by this place. The décor and ambience were pleasant, with low lighting lending a relaxed atmosphere and eased along by the friendly staff, but the food simply was not up to the standard implied by the prices.
Duck liver parfait to start was bland, with a similarly uninspiring red onion marmalade failing to excite the palate even by comparison, and the toast was inadequate and cold.
Main course, pork tenderloin with black pudding and sautéed potatoes was better, but the portion was noticeably small, and the watercress & cider sauce did little for the overall flavour. The pork itself was certainly tender, but again there was little of interest to its taste, and the black pudding lacked punch. To be fair, the dish as a whole was OK, but it just didn't raise much enthusiasm here.
The lemon tart was tiny and less than terrifically tangy; the selection of Welsh cheeses was decent in range, if again somewhat diminutive, and the accompanying quince jelly was actually quite good - as was the fortified Valpolicella recommended by the waiter to go with it.
In fact the booze was the highlight of the meal - although the coffee was grainy and rough, an excellent Pouilly Fumé was smooth and finished, and the Hendricks was served with pleasingly thin cucumber slices - but this seems in turn to highlight the fact that Goldbricks is perhaps better as a drinks venue than an eatery.
At £63 a head before service, outside London and with portions this size, I'd really expect a higher standard where the food's concerned.

Restaurant - food good but very expensive. I'll happily pay top dollar for quality, but tiny portions left us feeling simply ripped off.
Service charge policy was clearly stated on the menu - this earns them an extra star from me!
Cocktail bar - nice atmosphere, prices reflect the positioning as, basically, expensive enough to keep the riff-raff out. Plenty of punters want that so good luck to them.
Staff mostly friendly, efficient and speedy. Two of them were a bit clueless and needed several reminders.
What they aim to do, they seem to do well. It's not for everybody and not a place I'd make my regular, but recommended for a special occasion or if visiting from out of town.

So far most of the other reviews are spot on. Food is pricey and the portion sizes mean you can still be hungry after 3 courses. Cocktails are also overpriced and generally poorly made (only 1 or 2 of the bar staff have any mixing skills). Add to this arrogant staff and footballers WAG wannabe customers and you’re in for a generally overpriced and disappointing time. Think twice!
