Everytime I go into Edinburgh from the far north of Scotland I head for the Blue Moon Cafe. Food is great and the waiting staff cute and fun to talk to. There is something that the Blue Moon has that I can't put my finger on but there is something. Keep it up.

Best cafe in the Broughton Street area… if not Edinburgh! Whether you are gay or straight I might ad! Really tasty food at reasonable prices. Really like the staff they are so friendly. The chef makes super tasty daily specials so there is always something new and interesting to try!

Been here a couple of times now and will definitely be returning whenever i'm hungry and in the area again. Good menu with good prices - the starters are especially good value. The wife and i just shared hummus and bread, chicken nachos and potato wedges with beef chilli for an excellent price. To top it off the staff were very friendly and quick. Highly recommend it.

I really quite like Blue Moon. I tend to forget about it though cause theres so many other fab places on Broughton street and its slightly around the corner..

Nice comfy seating and enough of it to not be in your neighbours pocket..
A friendly, casual welcome and good service that is quick but also good. Babies and children are welcome, a brilliant menu... The hummous and pita bread was only £3.80 and the pita was proper hot not just a little bit warm and meh..

The latte was the perfect size not a huge mug which is a bit much when you get to the end. The potato wedges with chilli beef are lovely and a proper good meal for under a fiver. A friend of mine swears by the macaroni cheese here and the big dishes look gorgeous and proper portions.. Good choice of breakfast too and its served till 3, with both eggs florentine and benedict on the menu which isnt always the case its usually one or the other..

Clean, friendly surroundings, good atmosphere, a nice casual place to sit with friends and be left alone to catch up, not too expensive either... Another little Broughton street gem ! Toilets are a little bit grotty and thats the only reason I havent given them 5 stars

The saff are super friendly, I always go in with my friend who lives on Broughton Street and always have the Macaroni cheese Highly recomend

I love the way it comes in the individual dishes, just like my mum used to make it!

I absolutely adore this place. The food is outstanding no matter what you order. If you want salad minus peppers or to customise your order a little it’s never a problem. The prices are very reasonable and the portions exceptionally generous. The staff are friendly and helpful and it’s a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.
You’ll never go anywhere else for macaroni cheese and you have to try the grilled goat’s cheese salad. It’s awesome.

Love, love, LOVE the Blue Moon!! By far, my favourite eaterie in Edinburgh.

The macaroni cheese is to die for (ditto the mountainous plates of nachos), and as for the desserts….drools

It’s got the most warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Can’t rate the place, the food, or the staff highly enough!!

The Blue Moon is situated at the foot of Broughton Street, near the centre of Edinburgh inside the Edinburgh’s “Pink Triangle”. It has been Edinburgh’s premier gay caff since 1986. Always reinventing itself from cafe, to community space, to the current bar/bistro configuration it always offers a delightful respite from the pub scene. A place where you can get a cheap-ish and tasty meal and a drink in a much more relaxed atmosphere than is otherwise offered on the scene. The bar, deep blue, is situated underneath the cafe and sports an ever popular pool table. Well worth a visit, whatever you sexuality.

this is the kind of place where you can sit and read a newspaper all afternoon.
It is a light and airy cafe, facing the street and continuing through to a nice homely back area.
It is an unrushed affair coming here, so take your time looking through the menu and sipping your coffee or beer.
It is good homely food they serve here, burgers, chilli con carne or sausage and mash sitting in the mains.
good and simple, nachos piled high, bangers and mash big and hearty.
Downstairs is ‘deep blue’ a small friendly addition in the form of a bar serving drinks till 1am.
Probably the friendliest gay welcome you will get in the city.

This cheap n cheerful cafe / restaurant has a good selection of food at really good prices. They have a wide selection of starters, mains and deserts, so whether you want a full 3 course meal or just a little snack they will have something for you.

Situated in Broughton Street, the staff are friendly and the surroundings are pleasant.

They do lovely little haggis starters that you must try if you go!
