Very disappointed. Went specially but a bit of a let down. Bought quite a few types. Cakes were dry. The frosting was too sweet and too much-overwhelmed the cake. Not much difference in taste between most types! The chocolate cake/frosting barely tasted of chocolate.
Wasn't keen on these. As usual in my search for the perfect chocolate cupcake in England, I had one of those. This might be because it was a bit late in the day, but the cake itself was a bit dry. The frosting was just sweet enough but on a whole neither the cake nor the frosting were very chocolatey. I did appreciate the sparkles though, quite gorgeous :) Still, my search continues. Maybe next place I'll be lucky.

Bought coconut, carrot and Oreo cupcakes and all were delicious. Not too sweet and the cakes were light as air. The frosting was delicious!

Had a very tasty carrot cupcake here this afternoon. Maybe a bit too much icing for my personal tastes but still very good

Found this lovely place while wandering aound covent garden on a winter morning in Feb. Definately the time to visit...no queues at 10 am!
Had the tastiest banofie cupcake (get nothing like that in New Zealand). Am now searching for a recipe to stun my friends back home.loved the glitter on top...wished I had bought a pottle from the cafe to add that final touch at home. Will definately go back, on my next london visit . Cuppa and cupcake were good value. All the best.

These are easily the best cupcakes I've ever had (and I've had a few). Everyone I have given these to has agreed. The sponge itself is light and soft, which means the creamy butter icing isn't too overwhelming. The range of flavours means there should be something everyone likes (my personal favourite was the summer staple, lemon & raspberry). If you're trying to be good/on a diet, you could always have one of the mini cupcakes as a little indulgence.
The shop is small, but there is some outside seating. Staff are friendly, and despite the long queues, I've always been served very quickly. Prices are reasonable given the quality and location.

I know everyone says they get great customer service here, but I've gone quite a few times and can't help but feel that the staff is a bit arrogant! Their selection is minimal at best, and their prices are insane. They charged me £2.75 for a carrot cake cupcake, while a Peanut Butter cupcake was £2. Were the carrots made of gold, or what??
That said, the only reason I go back there is because I love their Peanut Butter cupcake. Absolutely love it.

Absolutely delightful place. The cupcakes are divine. The base is so moist and quite light. The frosting is a work of art and taste amazing.
Staff is quite friendly.
I definitely recommand it to all visitors in London.

Agree with all the reviews here, easily one of the tastiest cupcakeries in London. I also tried the peanut butter one and it was packed full of flavour, from the frosting to the soft sponge.
Worth making a detour to Covent Garden for!

“Arab derived name, reached England at the end of the thirteenth century, I can be a disinfectant or something defective or disappointing”... what does that say to you? Well a little google investigation revealed that the answer was lemon, and that won me a dozen cupcakes from Ella’s bakery, recently opened in Covent Garden Market. It’s decked out like a retro 50s diner with high bar stools and a hatch for takeaway coffees. It’s the brainchild of Lorraine Pascale (@lorrainepascale on Twitter - more competitions to come apparently!) who’d like to eventually open other outposts of the shop around the country.
I asked for a random dozen and taste-tested (the things I do for Qype) the peanut butter cupcake which bore just the right amount of saltiness from the peanut butter to cut the sweetness. Slightly too much icing - or frosting, if you must - for me but they look gorgeous. I’m taking the rest of the dozen, which includes vanilla, chocolate, red velvet and raspberry to an event tonight, I expect the box to go from full to crumbs in about ten seconds flat.
Definitely worth hunting this place out. Their 'couture’ cupcakes with motifs like stilettos sell out early. Available individually or in large boxes.
