This is a great bar to go in on a night out as the drinks are cheap, the atmosphere is lively and fantastic and the music is always up-to-date and dancey. The overall place is great to have a few drinks with your friends, would not recommend if you do not like busy clubs though as it is always packed.

This is an underground club which is located on Grainger Street in the city centre. The drinks are cheap, the atmosphere is great, overall you will have a great time. The only thing is don’t go if you don’t like packed places because you cannot get round for the amount of people, but it is a place I would recommend.

The Mushroom is an undeground club in Newcastle. The prices are reasonable but not the cheapest around. It can get really busy, which can get annoying as there is no room to move. The music is exellent however and its always a fun place to go to.

I walked into this bar and noticed immediately how dark it was, which was a bit annoying. The music was really good uptodate stuff. It was packed and hard to move around, let alone dance. The bar was a nightmare to get too but i got quick service and the prices were reasonable for the area. It is quite a small bar in general though, they could make a bit more of the bar then they do. The toilets are a state with no toilet roll whatsoever and the hand dryer was broken we went in there.

The Mushroom is located just off the Bigg Market, and they know how to appeal to their clientele – getting drunk is cheap. Which is good as if you couldn’t drink cheaply here I don’t think anyone would go. The bar is underground, down some fairly steep steps. There are always plenty of staff serving, and there is a small dance area and limited seating. It is very dark, and loud, but clearly not a club. It is often sticky, and seems to always have portly men in tight shirts experiencing a midlife crisis sobbing into their trebles towards the back of the bar. The Mushroom isn’t the cleanest, the loos are usually quite a state and seem to only get cleaned and checked during the day.

Not my favourite place to drink in Newcastle. For starters the place seems to be falling apart and the music is always far to loud. The other thing I dislike about this place is the unsavoury characters you get in there. The drinks aren’t the cheapest and they occassional have some good offers on. The toilets are always filthy but that could be because I only ever go quite late on. There are very few seats so it’s only good if you want to dance, but even then the dance floor is a bit on the small side. The music selection is good though. It’s in the centre of town, not far from the Big Market and opposite a 24 Hour Mcdonalds if you have the munchies when you get out. To get to it, you have to go down some winding stairs which isn’t very good if you’re already very drunk!

Mushroom Bar is located just a few minutes away from the Monument Metro station. It is in close proximity to various other bars and clubs. The Bar is an extremely long room down a set of stairs, the actual bar covers the entire length of the room and for this reason never takes too long to get served. As stated by many of the other reviewers the main selling point of Mushroom is the £2.50 trebles, however this is hardly cheap in Newcastle anymore, with many other bars offering cheaper trebles. The bar plays a variety of music and the toilets are not very clean.

If the trebles werent so cheap i dont think this bar would get many customers. As the trebles are very cheap though, this generally means this bar is always rammed…. full of the local riff raff. I do drop in now and again, as the drinks are very appealing there, but as i say, it isn’t particularly somewhere you’d rub shoulders with people (you may catch something). It isn’t the most clean of places either, your feet will stick to the floor and the toilets are a right mess. All in all, a canny place to go for cheap drinks, as long as you don’t mind meeting Newcastle’s charver community in the process.

The mushroom is built underground and the bar itself is quite cramped. Although it is a reasonable size it is very narrow in parts and can be hard to move about when it gets busy.

This pub is owned by the same people who run WHQ, the coolest club in town.
