I have been going to Marine Ices for twenty years and even though we have now moved from Camden Town to Crouch End it is still my family’s favourite restaurant!

The walls are packed with framed testimonials from famous and no so famous celebrity diners, and it’s such fun to scan them and see who you know.

You are always made to feel welcome by Aldo and his crew in this child friendly restaurant and ice cream parlour, a short walk from the Roundhouse.

Watch out for the spontaneous birthday celebrations and see if you can work your way through the huge ice cream and sorbet menu, which has to be the best in London.

Don’t be put off by the unusual name (you can read the explanation when you’re there), just enjoy top notch Italian food in a great environment.

I go here as often as I can. My brother and I find all sorts of things to celebrate, and are probably its only regulars throughout the winter chill. The ice creams come in all different arrays, with chocolate sauces and nut toppings, wafers, amaretto and baileys poured on top, heaps of cream. You can choose your own scoops and toppings if you don’t fancy the amazing Coppa Aldo or Vesuvius. Mix the sorbets with chocolate scoops. Pear and chocolate go particularly well. The service is irritatingly slow, but otherwise all is lovely. The main section does Italian meals too, which are good but I have quite a few friends who refuse to go here because they serve veal, so it might be worth bringing that up if you fill in a customer comments form. The ice creams are all free from gunk, all real fruit, seasonal or frozen, and wonderful. Their ice creams are also on sale at Kenwood House, but only in tubs and cones, not the huge sundaes.

This is one of the best ice cream parlours in London i've been to so far. They serve the most delicious frozen delights you could ever imagine! You can buy a cone or tub from the kiosk facing the road, or sit inside to experience the vast array of ice cream desserts. Yum yum yum! a lovely way to end a hot summers day after a picnic in Primrose Hill.
