Many years on from Disney’s Lion King and it is still recognised as one of the finest animation films. The musical had tough competition and the always present comparison factor. But it has re-created the story in a unique and utterly delightful way and the praise it has been given is all well-earned!

Telling the all-too-familiar story of Simba, actors in splendid body paint and beautiful costumes sing their hearts out and perform incredible acrobatics in this production. The story may be familiar, but the musical manages through the talent of the cast to show you a new perspective.

Currently showing at the Lyceum theatre in Covent Garden, there is quite a wait on tickets. You may be lucky and grab a few mid-week ones though. This is worth the effort for a thoroughly entertaining evening out that makes you walk out feeling young again!

I was taken to this for my birthday by a friend years ago now, and it still stands out as one of the best theatre productions I've ever seen (actually THE best, until I saw Avenue Q). The way they merge people with animal masks is incredible, the costumes and set designs are breath-takign, and the whole thing just blows you away really. It's a must-see.

When i first heard we was going to see a musical for my grandmas birthday i thought, "oh this going to be boring", but i couldn't be more wrong. The lion king was one of the most amazing things i have ever seen. With costumes made to perfection and the performers were acting with such passion it was as if every show they put on was there last, they really capture the feeling of what the lion king is about, friendship, love and fun. The song, he lives in me, nearly brought my mum to tears. Please go and see this as your remember it for years to come.

The Lion King is one of the best shows I have ever seen at the theate. When I went I was close to the stage and all the characters come down the aisles making it such an interactive show. The beginning scene is absolutely amazing with all the animals (brilliant costumes) performing to 'The Circle Of Life'. This is definately not a show to be missed.

The Lion King is an amacing show that will exceed your expectations!
I went to see it with my mum and my sister a few moths back, and it was a truly wonderful experience.
Being a big fan of theatre and musicals in particular, I had already seen The Lion King performed when on holidays in Germany. But I must say, this version is better.
Forget about animated Disney lions, forget about the lions you can go and see in the zoo. This is the real thing!
These lions have a fascinating story to tell, a story about love, power and betrayal. And oh, can these lions sing and dance in a way that makes it more than delightful to witness!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I have wanted to see this musical for a good few years, as one of my ex high school teachers said they saw it in London and it was not to be missed. It had played in Theatres in Australia, but as I knew I was coming to London, I wanted the full impact of this show, and I'm thrilled I got off my butt to book tickets. Not a penny wasted!
The opening scene made me cry (what a sap!) but the costumes where honestly overwhelming, and I would be lying to you if I said the Disney movie wasn't one of my favourites! The set, props, and costumes were pure geneius, the performances fantastic (Rafiki was outstanding, absolutely amazing!) and the soundtrack true to the movie. Pumba was extremely similar to the cartoon character and I couldn't rave more about this production.
Definately one you must see!
Fabulous

The costumes are amazing and you get the animals walking along the aisles. I sat at the corner by the aisle so I got to see the animals while they were walking and could even touch them if I wanted too. That was how close they were to me. This musical is great for children as well as adults. The songs were fantastic and very enjoyable. The storyline was good too and the performers were great. If you have kids or enjoyed the movie I would really recommend watching this. Your kids will love this.
