This is one of my favourite musicals i have ever seen. I’ve been twice now and i still can’t get over the fact that i had goosebumps throughout the whole thing. The stage, the actors and their amazing voices and costumes were all fabulous. What astonished me the most was how creative the production team had been, i was a bit dubious at first thinking it would be cheesy but i was so wrong, it was incredibly imaginative, moving, funny…everything and more. A truly wonderful theatre experience and one that i won’t forget.

My partner loves the story of The Lion King, and to be fair I think it’s less odd for him to feel that way, after all he is a South African!
A lot has been said here about this production, but there is a reason it has been going on for years- sheer quality entertainment.
The costumes are incredibly, the singing is superb, and the actors consistent. I was a little put off by the child Simba, he was far too aware of acting, rather than being the character. Also the hyenas were quite panto in places, and I think this is a story that doesn’t need that element.
Truly this is a night that you would never regret, or forget.

its no wonder this show has been running for such a long time. the puppet style animals are brilliantly portrayed by people in face paints and the child singers are very talented. i would recommend picking up cheap tickets for this show on sites like lastminute.com. make sure you go to it before it finally closes, if it ever does.

Fantastic musical! I especially recommend it to tourists/non-English speakers because, unlike other West End shows, you don’t need to be able to understand the storyline for it to still remain a spectacle. The amazing costumes, superb sets and brilliant voices will amaze even the non-musical goer, and the production is absolutely faultless and highly recommended!

This is a five star musical. It is true to the film whilst still being unique. The costumes are amazing and although the tickets are pricey they are definately worth it. The theatre is brilliant for this production and no matter where you sit you are guarenteed a good view. A fantastic show all round.

Was really looking forward to this after hearing amazing things from friends and shockingly…. my dad! I think with such high expectations it was always going to be difficult to live up to it. I enjoyed the show as a whole but was unimpressed compared to some of the other shows I’ve seen this year including Wicked and Les Miserables.
Worth watching but not all it’s cracked up to be!

took my wife to see this musical and we were blown away. It was easy to get to as we took the tube to temple and wandered up through the strand where this is based. The transport links are good with Covent Garden nearby. Inside there were people of all ages, children, young couples and older couples too. We were both really swept away in this musical – the colours and stage set up is amazing. At one points you have ‘birds’ flying overhead and a life size elephant come out. The music is amazing and it really sets the atmosphere. The cast were superb. In terms of the venue the refreshments were not too badly priced.

This was a spectacular recreation of the classic Disney film of the same name.
The costumes and set design were fantastic - even the props at the stampede scene (won’t say any more about it so as not to spoil the musical!), and espescially the way that there appeared to be a waterfall of a moving herd…
There was a mixture of existing songs from the original film, as well as some additional new material, but both were excellent.
The prices were a bit steep, but so is most London theatre these days. Definitely recommended.

This is an outstanding musical for the whole family. The classic Disney songs are great, and the set and performers are outstanding. It is very near to Covent Garden tube station, and so is very easy to access. This is the best musical in London!

This was amazing, the attention to detail was exceptional. Really enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend to one and all, big or small. The theatre is a lovely venue. We sat quite high up in the stalls but still had a decent view. The costumes are wonderful, the whole production is world class. The fact that it has been running so long bears testament to this. The child who plays Simba is such a great actor as is everyone else. The special effects are great using such simple means. They have a snack and drinks bar at the venue and a whole lot of Lion King memorobilia should you wish to purchase.

I think I must be the one in a million who isn’t bowled over by this musical. I’m a big fan of the genre, but I found myself quite bored throughout most of it, which is a real shame because I had been looking forward to going for a very long time. Perhaps my hopes were too high, I don’t know. The costumes, especially the animals at the beginning were outstanding, and the music as good as in the film, however I think I just found people playing animals didn’t work for me. will always remember the start of the second act though with the birds scene, amazing to watch.

Loved by children and adults. This long running disney musical has been running in London since 1999. Went there 3 years ago and again this year as my friend given me free tickets. I must say everytime I see the musical - it’s as good as the first time. Recommended.

My fiancé has always had a love of the lion king film so for his birthday I said I would take him to see the theatre version in London. After a 6 month wait we finally went last weekend and all I will say is that if there is one theatre production you go to, make sure it is the Lion King as it is fantastic!!
Tickets are easy to come by so you can go online or give the Lyceum theatre a call and you will be able to choose from practically every day and some days twice a day to which performance you want to go to. They play at 2.30 in the afternoon on Saturdays but we went to the 7.30 show.
The tickets were almost £60 each after paying booking fees but for a child ticket I would have thought they were a bit cheaper. This may seem expensive so we did think we hope the show is fabulous as it is a lot of money but believe me it is worth every penny.
So the show is on at the Lyceum theatre which is a beautiful theatre which is easily walked to from Covent Garden and Charing Cross stations and is easy to find. Lion King posters are all over the theatre with a big lions face on them and due to the orange and yellow colours you know you have reached the correct place.
In the theatre and it is lovely with great decoration and has a very royal appearance to it I think due to the luscious colours. There is a bar where you can buy some drinks but they are expensive as it was £2.50 for a small lemonade. There is also a small gift shop which sells towels, magnets, pens and programmes. They are not that badly priced either at £3 for some pencils and £4 for a programme.
So the show now goes on for a good 2 hours and every minute of it is fantastic! It begins with a fantastic rendition of circle of life with so many characters coming on stage and they make full use of the aisles and the boxes for animals to come down and some of the costumes are huge and amazing to watch.
From the second you see an elephant coming down the aisles to the side of you, you know you are watching something special here. The music is not overloud and the characters look amazing. The giraffes, elephants, leaopards, lions and practically everything is made and acted to perfection and it is spectacular.
There is a box which is used to hold drums and everything is truly brilliant with great music and the sets are amazing. I seriously don’t know how they did some of them and I am still trying to work out how Scar’s costume worked but you do have to use your imagination and if you do you will not be disappointed at all!!!
The show does follow the movie very well and all of your favourite lines and songs should be in there which is great. There is new music which is great and I have not got a bad word to say about any of it. We all sat there with smiles on our faces the whole evening and the most important thing is that the cast looked like they were having a great time as well which was nice.
I recommend that everybody sees this at some point. It plays daily and it is worth the trip to London to see. Save your money and give it a go.
Thanks for reading.

It’s a family show. It does entertain not only the kids but also the adults. We went to this musical earlier this year and find it’s worth every penny of it. I would recommend this musical to anyone coming to London.

My husband took me to see The Lion King Musical in London and I admit I was not looking forward to it at all - afterall, I had already seen the cartoon, so what surprises could there be.
But I was pleasantly surprised. Even if you’ve seen the animation, do make it a point to see the live show. It’s great family entertainment. The set and props are just spectacular!
We may not have sat close to the stage but I have wonderful memories of that experience. You can give this experience as a birthday present for your kids and you’ll enjoy it just as much as they will.
I’ll make it a point to go and see it again…soon.

A captivating musical which kept my children on the edge of their seats. The costumes are amazing and the songs all sound as good as the dvd. This was well worth the money and top marks to the performers.

The best musical I think I have ever seen. You cant really go wrong with that soundtrack and storyline, and this cast certainly don’t. If you like the film, you’ll love the show, as they’ve taken the good bits and made them far better and awe-inspiring than you might imagine. The animal costumes are amazing, a real feat of engineering, and it’s amazing how some of the cast can light-footedly dance around the stage wearing them. A reall great night out for the familt, and a must-see for all fans of the Disney film.

Without doubt this is the best show I have ever seen (and I’ve seen it three times!). Whether you’re a kid or a grown-up this is a colourful, inspiring and joyful show that you are bound to enjoy. The music is catchy, the performers excellent and the scenery eye-catching. Animals are portrayed by actors and actresses in imaginative and life-like ways and you’ll leave the performance on a high!

I saw this for my 21st birthday at the Lyceum theatre. It was the most magical evening of my life! I had never been to the theatre before so this was a lovely experience. I already knew the Lion king story but seeing the beautiful colours and the amazing set on the stage was brilliant. The music was powerful and the performances were very believable. At some points the actors dance through the audience and from the balconies which is amazing. I felt like a child. We luckily had fantastic seats and I must say if you do go and see this then spend the extra few pounds for a front row seat as sitting all the way at the top and at the back is a shame as you really miss out on al the detail. The entire show kept me entertained and everything was seamless between acts. I would love to see this again at some points. Bravo!!

I went to see this performance a couple of years ago and it was really wonderful. There was so much energy and life to the performance. Some of the singers were absolutely wonderful.
I found the style of the performance very creative - the way they created the illusion of rain was wonderful, as was the way they used the whole space of the theatre to bring the animals onto the stage.
Lots of colour, lots of imagination - wonderful.
I hate to say it, but the kid acting as young Simba was a little nauseating, but otherwise everything else was very good. Good soundtrack, good atmosphere, good show.

My experience of the Lion King was perhaps a little different to most because I had not seen the animated movie of the Lion King nor did I know the story. As such I was blown away by how moving the story is and by the brilliantly composed and performed songs. The real star of this show is the costume design. The imagination put into the costume is incredible and really helped to bring the animal characters to life. The Lion King remains in my personal all time top five musical I’ve even seen and I’m recommending it to everyone who will listen! If you haven’t already…see it, if you have…see it again!

Oh my goodness - where to start! This is such a fantastic show! I saw it about six months ago with a school group and despite sitting right at the top of the gods we thoroughly enjoyed it. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, although everyone know what happens in the story, but it was as spectacular as seeing a show in Disney World. There is always the danger that shows lose their magic after a few years, but this has been running for ages and is still every bit as good as if it were new. Highly recommended for kids aged 2-92.
