I just had to commend this hotel for its service to a disabled guest.
I had occasion to stay at the Apex City of London very recently and I was astounded at the quality of care provided by the staff for disabled guests. The room was extremely well laid out leaving plenty of room to negotiate a wheel chair with ease around the large bed and also to access the desk/dressing table. The bathroom was just perfect with a roll in shower and none of the luxuriousness of a quality bathroom had been sacrificed to make it disabled friendly. One barely noticed that is was a disabled bathroom at all and this was a very welcome relief from the usual sterile hospital feeling in most hotels.
The care from the staff was second to none without making you feel like you were being patronised for being disabled.
I was treated like a queen at all times with staff appearing from nowhere to meet my needs almost before I even realised I had any!
Never at anytime did they make it seem like they were 'just doing their job' - they made it all seem so natural and second nature to them. They must have one heck of a customer service training program!
The hotel does have six steps up to the foyer but this was no barrier for a wheelchair user as rather than a cumbersome ramp they have a nifty lift to one side into which you roll your chair and then a very smart young man checks the glass doors are closed and ensures you gracefully ascend to the foyer where you are greeted by an equally smart young man who ensures you emerge safely and also just as importantly with dignity.
Yes, 'Dignity' would be the word I would use to describe my experience - they treat the disabled with the highest level of dignity that it is possible to receive in a commercial establishment.
I would heartily recommend this hotel for any wheelchair user for a truly wonderful experience.
What an amazing deal in London! The hotel is very stylish and luxurious, yet the room rates are pretty low.
The superior rooms have a great bathroom, fantastic huge and comfortabel bed and a cinema-style plasma screen. All looks really cool and expensive. Also service and facilities are top of the notch. A particularly nice service was the option to fill out a breakfast room service form and hang it on the door in the evening. Your a la carte breakfast is then delivered at the time you entered on the form - no need to call someone in the morning and wait…amazing!
All in all, great value, great service, great rooms and great location near tube and bus stops at London Tower.

I recently stayed at the hotel and enjoyed every minute. The rooms are on the snug side, but the detail is fantastic. The bathroom goodies were a great size (I’m such a sucker for the 'freebies’) and even though our room had a view of the back of the hotel, our spirits were not dampened.
Breakfast was a real treat. I hadn’t realised when I booked, but we were down for a full English. This was as well as the continental buffet which had a selection of salami, ham, cheeses and fresh breads as well as tropical fruits and the yummiest yoghurt I’ve ever eaten! To be honest, I would have been happy to have just that, but the full breakfast was also top quality. This also included fresh juices and tea or coffee.
We were given a voucher for 50% off the bar restaurant when we checked in, but decided to have a wander around town instead. Going by the delicious breakfast, I think it could have been worth a visit. Next time! I will definitely book here again and would recommend highly to others. It was great quality at a reasonable price. Very satisfied.

The Apex City of London Hotel is a well-designed and pleasant hotel for a weekend break. It is trendy without being overbearing and its understated concern for quality is evident.
The receptionists were friendly and efficient and all financial dealings were smoothly dealt with. The room was small but very well designed with solid fittings, a comfortable bed, and the choice of a bath or shower. The towels were admirably fluffy and all the toiletries very very nice to use - real stuff not cheap hotel imitations. You even get to keep a cute little rubber ducky as a reminder of your stay!
The Apex experience has relaxation on the agenda. My plans to take advantage of the gym were scuppered by a late night out but if it's half as nice as the rest it's worth checking out! Being in the City the hotel is primarily for business travelers and there are useful features like WiFi access. And the room had a desk big enough to work at. There was also a huge tele for when a break was needed.
The location is fantastic for sightseeing with the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and other places on both sides of the Thames within easy - walkable - reach.
I really like the Apex so why only 4 stars? It's simply because the well-reviewed restaurant isn't open at weekends. That said the Braveheart Breakfast we had was great if extremely filling so if the rest of the cooking is anything like it, it's worth making a separate trip for.
Other features include room service and an on-site bar (which looked nice for cocktails but we weren't keen to pay the price!).
