Alte Friesenstube

The restaurant is a bit expensive but worth visiting. The food here is great. There is something or the other for everybody. 

I ate here recently with my family, which was a great idea. I had heard from so many friends about how good the food is on Sylt, so my expectations were set high. I so very much wanted to have a fish dish that showed not just great technical skills from the chef, but also innovation. Alte Friesenstube delivered that and more. Four of us had fish dishes. The kids were thrilled to get potato pancakes with apple sauce. But, our fish dishes would have certainly pleased the kids if we hadn’t told them in advance that they were fish dishes. Each fish dish was light and had delicate sauces that complemented the fish rather than trying to mask the flavor, which you see in restaurants with lower quality product. I ended up tasting everyone’s dish and was delighted with the various directions that were all very fresh without being so modern as to not fit into the charm of their rustic reed thatched house. For four adults and two kids we paid roughly 200€, which is expensive. But, it was well worth it. Spoil yourself if you visit Sylt and enjoy a wonderful meal at the Alte Friesenstube.
